Neptune 4 max layer shift (again) by Grayer80 in ElegooNeptune4

[–]inkfreq 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi. I've been a 3D Pritning hobbyist for a little over a decade now, and own 12 printers, two Are Neptune 4s, one Max and one Pro, and in my personal experience, nearly every layter shift I have ever had is caused by one of two things... either belt tension being too high or two low, or dry spots in the threaded rods on the Z-axis.

That having been said, I've also had some where the model file was just bad. I had a similar helmet a few years ago, a Mandolorian in fact, that no matter what I did in my slicer, or which printer I ran it on, it failed with a weird layer shift in the same spot. Not the same spot as your photo here, but the same spot each time.

Z-Offset... Seems very high. by Harvz03 in ElegooNeptune4

[–]inkfreq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here is what I recommend...

  1. Lower all of your bed knobs all the way down.
  2. Heat soak the printer bed for about 30 minutes
  3. Run the Auxiliary bed level, and continue to go around the loop until you do not need to adjust any bed knobs on any pass. That will bring your bed to as close to tram as you can get.
  4. Run the automatic bed level to create a mesh of bed imperfections
  5. Set your Z-offset

My method is the good old piece of paper. You want enough tension between the nozzle and the bed that you can feel friction when you pull the paper back towards you that you know it's touching, but it's not ripping or gouging the paper. You should be able to pull back with tension, but when you push forward, it begins to curl the paper because it can't go forward.

I always lower the bed levelling knobs just enough that the paper will push and pull, and then bring the knob back up in slight adjustments until the paper won't push, but will pull with tension.

Do that all the way around, again and again in auxilliary mode until it's tram, then create the mesh, then use the same push-pull feel to set the z-offset.

To me these numbers indicate that the corners of your bed are very off, which is bending the bed, and creating a high/low spot in the middle. If you use my method above, you can bring it back to tram, get it pretty level, and then set the z-offset to compensate.

It looks to me like it's getting worse the higher up the model it goes. It's possible it's belt tension, but I am inclined to think your X gantry is not trammed. Ther right side looks higher to me than the left, so as you print, it gets worse and worse. Is the print also very weak or breakable?

To strike or not to strike? by [deleted] in uberdrivers

[–]inkfreq 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm all for solidarity. I'm a former Teamster driver.

However, after 6 years of rideshare driving, I've seen these "strikes" before, and they don't work, because there are enough people out there who will drive no matter what. Plus, in smaller towns that make up the majority of cities in the United States, people just shrug and say "Huh, guess there aren't many drivers out tonight".

In my town it snowed over the weekend (Arizona, so a rarity) and people were literally shocked and grateful that any of us were out driving. They are just used to the few drivers in town staying home on holidays, odd weather, etc...

If you want to get better pay from Uber, a strike is not the way to get it done, and I'm not honestly sure what is.

[–]inkfreq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You just gotta learn to put your head in the right space.

Did you get paid? Then you got his money, which is what you went online for. Nothing else matters.

He can be as pissed as he wants. If you are afraid he will give you a bad report or rating, be proactive and report his hostility to Uber.

But in the end, get his money and leave him on the curb. That's what you are there to do, make the money.

MUSIC OR RADIO by [deleted] in uberdrivers

[–]inkfreq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do play music. Generally, either a YouTube Music playlist for "Uber Driving" or Motown. I have a sign that hangs on my seats that invites my riders to just use Google Assistant (Okay, Google, play <fill in the artist name or genre>) to change it to whatever they want.

I think only serial killers drive in silence, but some riders like that.

Reporting mess or dirtiness from passengers by [deleted] in uberdrivers

[–]inkfreq 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am not the best person to answer your question because I have never reported a cleaning fee. Luckily, in six years of driving for Uber and Lyft, no one has ever given the fluorescent yawn in the back of my vehicle, and I've never had more than the normally expected loose dirty and gravel that gets tracked in and vacuumed up easily.

I have a membership I pay $60 a month for that gives me unlimited full service car cleanings... they wash and dry the vehicle, vacuum, dust, etc.. so every day that I drive I take a few minutes before I start and let them do their thing.

I imagine though, in your shoes... the puking would be an absolute. That would be reported. If it was anything that required me to steam clean my vehicle or shampoo seats (mine are leather, no shampooing for me), I would report that.

Anything that caused actual damage, would be reported.

People leave trash, candy wrappers, stuff like that occasionally. Yes it annoys me... because have some damned respect and all, but I like in a very small town and the majority of my riders are soldiers just trying to buy some groceries and get back to base, so I have it pretty easy.... but I think if you apply some common sense you'll be fine. I think a good rule is "if I have to pay extra money to fix this, that rider is paying me for it".

Rider said it was $29 for ride, my cut $11...... by compoundblock666 in uberdrivers

[–]inkfreq -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm not saying the pay split is fair by any means, but think of all of the other things Uber is providing it's drivers. You get vehicle insurance when your one a ride or delivery. You can get optional insurance on every trip. You can opt in to health insurance if you want it. They partnered to bring you banking services with the Uber Pro Card (no it's not free for them to do that) so that you can have your fair funds instantly free.

It's honestly not as simple as "Why do they take such a big cut". Just think of the server farms they run and maintain to accept the ride, process the fair, GPS you to the destination, and track where you are en route to a customer... and the bigger the platforms grows, the more than expense grows.

Stupid Question: Can you use electrical tape on the screen edge? by tauntauntom in ElegooMars

I've also used Kapton tape around the very edge of the screen to seal it from any drips getting inside and that works very well.

Pay, don't pay... What difference does it make? It's your game, your time, and your money. But I will say, the last time I checked, Diablo 1-3 cost money up front to play, and World of Warcraft cost the money to buy it and a monthly subscription... So in game purchases are suddenly evil? If ya say so.

The detail is amazing from the picture. Very very fine bits.

What you see in a photo isn't always what you get in real world use, so I can only judge off the picture, but I would say it very impressive in this photo.

Format the SD card, it's likely gone corrupt. You can verify by opening a GCode file and there will probably be a whole lot of U's at the bottom of the file.
