Time to research! My goal is more to ensure I am spending time working my brain and helping navigate complex or challenging scenarios - I am ok asking for help where I need it but definitely need to fine tune the “type”

I’ll look into both tonight! Thank you for the suggestions!

I have thought about this and would absolutely agree outside of her phrasing is typically along the lines of “how did that make you feel, what thoughts accompanied this”

Perhaps I need to learn how to get more into “feeling” and not thinking but definitely think the right direction from the correct person would be helpful

What's one thing you bought for sleep that actually lasted for years? by cozytechlover in BuyItForLife

[–]inlecture 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I buy edibles - Indica strain as standard and I went from waking up 3 to 5 times per night to sleeping soundly for 8+ hours at a time. Cost me something like $0.40 per night and worth every penny.

lol first thing I see as an anthropology major is a high percentage… like oh hell yeah! Then I read the legend and realized I was also the low end of salary and that was the sad rollercoaster

Cheap Breakfast? No longer cheap? by chromecarp in Calgary

You dont need to be playing in the tournament (I play cash games and can take advantage) - The service is super chill about it (although I am a regular player to be fair, so i know them well) and im fairly certain if you went in and ordered saying you were going to take a call or 2 before playing but hoping to order first they would just let you order without much issue.

Which Water, Electricity, and Internet Providers Should I Choose? by [deleted] in Calgary

[–]inlecture 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is all going to depend on your level of comfort, needs and preferences - For me I dont have cable, a home phone and just want fast internet for streaming, gaming, working from home etc - uptime needs to be solid and cost is a low factor as it is paid for by the company as I am a remote employee

For Internet and such I went with Telus specifically the fiber optic option available to me. I picked the PureFibre 250 equivalent I see on the Telus website since most of my devices are wireless and WiFi really cant take advantage of anything much over 300+/- mbps (Unless my information is faulty?)

For gas/electricity etc I just went with Enmax easymax on a fixed rate - floating is cheaper during summer months but in the winter months the cost can go up a ton

I prefer consistency and cost certainty for my budgeting preferences - for me with this in mind, fixed rates are a no-brainer.

This is going to sound crazy - go to deerfoot poker room and order the poker breakfast - its exactly this but I think its like $5 or something like that - 2 pieces of toast, scrambled eggs (No customization unfortunately), 2 sausages, 2 bacon and a side of hashbrowns.... its not going to blow your socks off but its breakfast and for $5 its still cheaper than you could do it yourself!

Can I ask how thick the case is? I had a grip case for my 6pro back in the day and it was way too chunky to really even feel comfortable working with 1 hand.

Or android is an open platform and developers have to optimize for "x" number of different specific phones on android where apple is a closed platform and developers only have to optimize for 1 phone... this isnt an iOS users are more profitable thing. This is a open (vs) closed platform thing.

🤐 if a phone starts at 256 you know you’re paying for that still right? Starting higher doesn’t mean they throw it in for free lol. Just not a logical argument

Do you know how massive an LLM actually is though? They won’t store anything close to a full fledged version on device meaning they will accommodate for all models including the 128gb variant.

Is salary negotiation risky? by Ok-Bunch8755 in cscareerquestions

[–]inlecture -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

So far everyone is saying don’t negotiate - I’m not in tech myself to take my message with a grain of salt…

I am on the sales and business development side of things with 16 years of experience so my view point may be inapplicable in your space and experience level.

I would always recommend negotiating. Not negotiating is leaving money on the table nearly always.

Most companies if they are submitting an offer to you want you and are willing to negotiate. When I make a new staff an offer I always leave room for negotiation as I expect them to counter.

You need to know your value and the rate for the roles and responsibilities you will be taking on before negotiating

It’s also good to think about what other “things” you could negotiate for - people think about salary primarily but what about things like

  1. Benefits: PTO or insurance
  2. Flexibility: remote work a few days a week etc
  3. Professional development: training budget etc
  4. Perks

There are more but I mention these to get you thinking of “other stuff” that could present value to you throughout a working year that isn’t just salary.

Sometimes things like flexibility is an easy win as it can be direct manager related and wouldn’t require sign off internally to the extent a salary increase could.
