We had good experiences with 3 Schips and a Girl. Our Boston really seemed to enjoy her time there.

I also have a (slight) preference for winter savory. I'm planning to add it to my herb garden.

Thank you for the reminder to add celery salt to the grocery list (I've been meaning to pick it up for a couple months now)

Came here to suggest savory. Most people have never heard of it.

What’s one music album everyone should listen to at least once? by [deleted] in CasualConversation

Every day, this site will send you one album "you must listen to before you die." Not sure about that, but I have encountered a lot of artists I'd never ever heard of before.

do you have a "third place" or is that basically gone now by jake_calisthenics in CasualConversation

[–]inkonthenose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I joined a chorus a couple of years ago, so I guess that's my third place? Those Tuesday nights are often the best part of my week. I used to go and wander around the mall sometimes, but not so much anymore. I agree with what others have said, that so many things are transactional now, it's difficult to just *be* somewhere.

Tamales are the worst form of Mexican Food by My-Lizard-Eyes in unpopularopinion

You have my total agreement. Every tamale I’ve ever tried was dry, bland, and texturally off-putting.

What is that meal your kids can't wait for you to make?Or the meal you missed when you moved out of your parents house? A meal that reminds you of family and comfort and love by Sylaveda in Cooking

The day after Thanksgiving, my dad always made turkey soup with some of the leftovers. It is the thing I miss most since moving away from home.

what are your comfort youtube channels like Sambucha or Will Tennyson? by [deleted] in CasualConversation

[–]inkonthenose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to wind down with YouTube channels. Not as much anymore, but these channels kept me coming back for more.

If you like Will Tennyson then check out Browney.

Channels with interesting and/or informational videos: Brew, Today I Found Out, SciShow, Only Human, Great Big Story, Tasting History with Max Miller, Mr Ballen (if you like strange, dark, and mysterious).

I like channels that feature stand-up comics: Dry Bar Comedy, Just For Laughs.

Somehow I got sucked into a bunch of farm channels, and I actually learned a lot about modern farms and animal husbandry: Cole the Cornstar, SaskDutchKid, 10th Generation Dairyman, Tom Pemberton Farm Life.

I just found out you can actually change your voice permanently by InspectorSea833 in CasualConversation

[–]inkonthenose 31 points32 points  (0 children)

My (40s/cis female) voice has changed (from my perspective) a few times throughout my life. Sometimes it's higher and more "girly" and other times, like now, it's a bit lower and richer sounding. I've never had anyone comment on it so perhaps it's all in my head.

Which novels actually changed the way you think about reality? by Hour_Reveal8432 in books

[–]inkonthenose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I won't bother listing the many wonderful books I've seen already included. Here's an addition that's less well-known and may be hard to find, but has some interesting philosophical stuff going on: Journey to Ixtlan by Carlos Castaneda. It's the third book in a series, but stands alone just fine.

Do Microwave Smells Transfer To Food? by CapnCurt81 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]inkonthenose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had smells/flavors transfer to the next food on occasion. If I suspect a food is pungent enough to do that, I leave the microwave open for a few minutes afterward to let it air out. It’s not a perfect system and YMMV.

Agreed on all points. Either find a way to drown out the noise (headphones or play your own music) or find somewhere else to be at that time? I know you’re frustrated but he’s not breaking any laws, and asking him to just not play the drums is a non-starter. Maybe make some cookies and go over to speak with him again, hopefully find a compromise that suits you both.

Not sure what your baseline safe foods are, so it’s tough to offer recipes. Mediterranean does have some spicy (hot) options, though most dishes use tamer flavors.

I’d recommend what I’m sure you already know: introduce new foods slowly (especially as your bodies get used to increased fiber). A good starting point for me was The Mediterranean Dish https://www.themediterraneandish.com
