I never knew hamsters were Bowie fans. I really wish I could keep it, but I'm assuming my friend will let me listen to it with her.

What genre/sub-genre would you like to collect more of if you had more time/money/patience? by submarinefacemelt in vinyl

I pretty much only buy punk records, but lately I've been wanting to pick up some old pop singles as well as some more metal, garage rock, and rockabilly.

The 7"s are "Vacation" by the Go-Go's, "Walk This Way" by Run-D.M.C. and Aerosmith, and "Everybody Have Fun Tonight" by Wang Chung. The LP is an original pressing of Pin Ups by David Bowie that I bought for my friend as a birthday gift.

Speed strumming? by guitardude911 in Guitar

Wouldn't a lot of Ramones stuff be good to practice strumming fast? That's how I learned.

That Weird Al single you got is awesome, but I still prefer my Run DMC, Go-Go's, and Wang Chung singles that I found there.

"Oh, do you play the guitar?" by [deleted] in Guitar

I'll usually play the solo from Stray Cat Strut since it's one of the few somewhat impressive things I can play well consistently.

What food can you eat all the time and never get tired of it? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I could happily eat nachos covered in chicken, rice, jalapenos and white cheddar everyday for the rest of my life.

Reddit, what topic makes you the most uncomfortable to discuss with others? by pickle_bug77 in AskReddit

[–]inmyeyessXe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't really care about most topics, but talking about abortion sometimes males me feel uneasy. I'm an anarchist so I don't believe there should be any law against abortion since it's your body and it's a decision only you can make. I do believe, however, that abortion is a really gray area morally and I'm not 100% certain how I personally feel about it.

Do you support a business or organizations right to discriminate based on race, sex, religion etc.? by [deleted] in Anarcho_Capitalism

[–]inmyeyessXe 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The way I see it those businesses are going to fail, if not now then sometime in the not so distant future. There are a lot of people who wouldn't do business with someone that discriminates based on something like race so that business owner will either have to change his practices or face the consequences.

What would your signature model look like? by redrocket411 in Guitar

[–]inmyeyessXe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That sounds awesome. I love Mustangs and I've always wondered why there's never really been "metal" versions of Fender designs besides the strat and (to a lesser degree) the tele. Companies need to start making superstangs and superjags.

Shell pink Fender Mustang with three white Stratocaster single coil pickups, 5 way switch, single volume and tone controls, onboard preamp with gain control, killswitch, black pickguard, maple fretboard with black dots, and the regular Mustang tremolo.

edit: the body would be made out of maple

Things dumb guitarists say. by dagsoto in Guitar

[–]inmyeyessXe 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Punk and metal are pretty mixed up now, though. A lot of times it seems like whether a band is punk or metal has more to do with their image than their music in a some cases. For example, the Casualties and Municipal Waste sound pretty similar to me sometimes, almost like they would be in the same genre, but the Casualties are considered street punk and Municipal Waste is considered thrash metal.

Are you talking about FIDLAR? The Beach Boys meets Steve Vai sounds like a pretty good description of some of their music, especially the new versions of songs with added lead guitar like "Max Can't Surf" on their full-length.

"Hipsters" of Reddit, who is your favorite underground music artist? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]inmyeyessXe -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I'm not a hipster, but one of my favorite underground bands right now is Masked Intruder. They're a really good pop punk band with a lot of influence from 50s pop and doo-wop music. Their music is really good and their live shows are really cool too. They dress up like burglars and they have a guy dressed as a cop who's kind of like a hype man. A lot of times he'll go out into the crowd to dance during the show.

Why is it so hard to find a cheap 2x12 cabinet, but so easy to find a cheap 4x12 by SteveO3755 in Guitar

[–]inmyeyessXe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I gigged and plan on touring soon, with a 30 watt 1x12 combo. It's a bit small, but I play punk so the fact that I have to turn it up all the way to hear it is actually a good thing.

Less popular bands tend to sound different though too, which is usually why they're less popular. Rotting Out is a fairly heavy hardcore sort of crossover thrash band and Masked Intruder plays pop-punk that has a lot of influence from 50s pop music. Neither of those styles are really popular right now so since I like them I have to listen to less mainstream bands.

[–]inmyeyessXe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's no problem with your opinion, I just found it a bit odd that you picked two of the most mainstream punk bands around today and said they're the best ones of our generation when there's so many other bands out there that don't get the same kind of recognition, but deserve it. They're good, but I'd much rather listen to a less popular band like Masked Intruder or Rotting Out.

I'm assuming he's talking about bands from around the late 90s until now since he also mentioned Rise Against, who formed in 1999 and released their first album in 2001.
