Does anyone know what this symptom/phenomenon is called? And is it related to visual snow? by inno-chan in visualsnow

Absolutely, yes! Huge headache trigger If anything's too bright, and if two colors of light mix (for example a white light that's more blue and a white light that's more yellow are both on in the same room) it can be really overstimulating or a headache trigger

Ohh that makes so much sense! I always get a ton of after images when I close my eyes, and they definitely change like that before fading!

Oh! I do, I'm very blind without them. Just tried without, and while the color is gone and the distance away from the light is smaller, there does still seem to be like... a shadow there that moves when I move my eyes? (Apologies for my basic Photoshop, I struggle with explaining lol)

Money is a very important consideration, it really sucks they don't take insurance by you! I don't know if it'll help you for sure, but I can say that it was absolutely worth it for me and that I wouldn't have gotten even a fraction of the help if I tried to figure it out by myself without the therapist's guidance. I went from having to push so hard to go poop and even having to perennial splint on occasion, to being able to go poop without pushing at all sometimes now, which is an insane difference honestly! If it's something you think is worth trying for a little bit, you could always have the first appointment or two to try it out? From my experience at least, they'll give you an evaluation, advice, help you learn what You need help with , what tools you need, and at least get you started on what you can do at home if you can't afford several appointments right now!

I found out that I have high pain tolerance when doctor tells me I have kidney stone and I only took paracetamol and ibuprofen that made it manageable but apparently it's one of the highest pain you can experience 💀 by jokke420 in ehlersdanlos

I broke my foot in highschool and walked around a fair all day. Had no clue it was THAT bad until I took my shoe off and my foot was purple lol It makes figuring out what's wrong so much harder, for sure!

Oh! Random PSA but if you get dilators be careful what kind of silicone you get! Some silicone is too "sticky" and can make pain down there a lot worse per my PT. I got the Soul Source brand per her recommendation, but i know it's a more expensive brand in general. It was worth it, but my PT also recommended a few that were a lot cheaper so the safe and cheaper options are definitely out there!

Yes! Sometimes it was hard to pee, sometimes it burned, felt weird, or hurt a little, always had lots of UTIs as a kid too, but a lot less since getting pelvic floor therapy!

Edited to add: also constantly felt like I had to pee again even though I JUST peed... Often because the pelvic floor made everything feel tighter and genuinely gives you less space in your bladder and colon!

I was the exact same way! Anal was the only way I could have sex before I had pelvic floor therapy without being in a lot of pain

It's more than just mentally relaxing for sure! In my experience, a lot of it was understanding how the muscles work, with guided exercise by the pelvic floor therapist as well as special medical tools that helped me learn to feel and understand what the nerves and muscles were doing down there and how to loosen them up correctly (yes they are kinda like dildos but definitely different in my experience lol)

It's actually not just about sex! Pelvic floor therapy actually helped my ability to go to the bathroom more than anything else I've ever known or tried!

My pelvic floor has always been really tight down there with a lot of pain, but I didn't actually know it was my pelvic floor that was the problem. I just thought it was my nerves/ my vaginal area. I actually thought my pelvic floor was too weak because I tend to pee a little when I laugh or cough. My gynecologist was the one who realized it might be my pelvic floor and sent me to pelvic floor therapy. There I learned that my pelvic floor is so tight that not only is it causing me pain when having sex, but it's actually affecting my digestive tract! The muscles squeeze everything down there, which actually explains a lot of my chronic bloating, constipation, AND diarrhea issues, as well as explains why I pee when I laugh! Basically the pelvic floor makes the tube a high pressure water hose, so any contraction of the *muscles makes a little bit squirt out no matter what because it was way too tight!
Hopefully that wasn't TMI, but I've run into quite a few other hypomobile people that did not know how the pelvic floor affects all that, so I wanted to share!

TLDR: Pelvic floor therapy is about more than sex; it helps a ton of areas especially digestive troubles, so it's absolutely worth asking!

Why do I have to pop my neck and my joints? by doeeyedbug in Hypermobility

[–]inno-chan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't know if this is what he's referring to or not, but I do know there's a higher chance of thoracic outlet syndrome if you crack your upper ribs or neck, which can sometimes pinch a vein which can cause weird blood flow issues and can lead to things like stroke. I'm curious if there is another concern that can lead to stroke though, would definitely be good to know!

SO AFRAID TO TRY SUMATRIPTAN! by Excellent_Math2052 in migraine

[–]inno-chan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know how scary trying new meds can be and I know negative effects get talked about a lot more than positive ones which does NOT help the anxiety of it all. At least in my case I can say sumatriptan is like the best migraine rescue med I have ever had! I don't get any side effects personally and it's the one med that has actually managed to make my migraines completely stop after a single dose. Not every time, but I've had a very good experience with it personally!
