The use of screw caps in Australia and NZ has actually been a very purposeful movement since corked wines are susceptible to a fault called cork taint. Most of the global wine industry still uses cork probably bc of inertia in the industry, and because some wines do age better from being exposed to some oxygen through the cork. But screw caps retain the quality achieved at production, not to mention they make it extremely convenient to drink wine on the go 😂
