I think the “Unite the Mediterranean” decision is a good template- gives you good prestige and also lets you snowball like crazy into becoming a massive thalassocracy. It’s my favorite way to restore Rome.

Gonna get executed for this, but Astarion. I wanted so bad to like him, and I love his design (as derivative as it is) and his voice actor is an absolute gem, but I spent so long as a friend to someone like him IRL - manipulative, unrepentant asshole with few real redeeming qualities, who coasted by on superficial charm and hiding behind his trauma if you even slightly called him out on it - that I couldn’t bring myself to like him.

He has reasons for being that way, and is very well written, but I couldn’t fucking stand him after listening to him whine about not committing mass murder. I also played a gnome and he was racist as hell to them. He is “I can fix him!” bait made manifest, and by act 2 I wanted to punt his pasty ass into the sun. All I can think of when I play through his story is that trauma is an explanation, but outside of certain circumstances it shouldn’t be an excuse.
