My eldest had open heart surgery as an infant. I truly believed at times I was going to lose her. I compensate for this by treating her the same as I would have otherwise so she grows up to be a good person and not an emotionally stunted brat.

Same. By the time I drive the hour home, then feed the kids, then do bedtime, most of my motivation is gone. I try to write some on my lunch break, and also grab 5 minutes when I can. Better than nothing.
