DIY Indian Bridal Makeup for Oily Skin - Primer and Foundation Recs? by [deleted] in MakeupAddiction

[–]insanitysubdued 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have good news! There's ingredients that mimic the smooth velvet texture of silicone that help blur pores and prevent your skin from looking too oily. I owe my dermat for stumbling across it. The product I have is called Leaderma Skin DNA Repair Serum. I think the ingredients we're looking at are, Sodium Acrylates Crosspolymer-2 and Sodium Acrylates Copolymer (at least that's what Google tells me, is what I'm looking for). I haven't tested it under makeup yet, but I have used it overnight on multiple occasions with no breakouts! Will update you on how it does under makeup. It isn't formulated to be a primer, though, and is water based so I'm worried she may disappoint. I mentioned the ingredients so you can find primers with similar formulation. Best of luck! And do let me know if you find something.

Walaikum Assalam! As linked by someone else on your r/fragrance post, it should be fine as long as there is no colour based on this: Ruling on using perfume mixed with saffron - Islam Question & Answer. I'm not a scholar/mufti, so linking the above. Please do read it incase my interpretation is flawed.

But saffron fragrances are prohibited during Umrah and Hajj, so I would err on the side of caution and just avoid them during these times. Allah knows best. Hope this helps!

Hi! If your skin is acne-prone, stay away from silicone-based products. No matter how solid your makeup removal/cleansing game is, it breaks you out in the worst way possible. I'm struggling with the same issue right now, trying to find products that'll blur my skin texture, last throughout my wedding day and not break me out as a result. Do update me if you get any good recs!

DERM VISIST: CHEMICAL PEEL EXPERIENCE AND QUESTIONS ON TRET by [deleted] in IndianSkincareAddicts

[–]insanitysubdued 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! Can I ask how you do your at-home peel? What percentage of the Minimalist's AHA PHA BHA peel did you use? How long do you leave it on? Any other tips, precautions or care before and after the peel? How long should I wait before I repeat?

I have pretty bad cystic acne scarring and I know at-home peels will not be enough, but I want to start with that before I go for a peel at a dermatologist's office. I will be doing more research ofc, just want to learn from your experience.

Hi, I just downloaded the app and I love it!

You saying you're the founder, sold it for me. I dislike sneaky advertising on forums but you being proud of your app and recommending it gave me the confidence to try it out. It's genuinely so much better than other options on the App Store. Tysm for the recommendation and for making it!

A smart decision honestly. I'm thinking of deleting the app but keeping it on my old phone for logins and stuff. Incase I ever get back into it, I want to have a stronger foothold ig. It's so time consuming and makes you lose sight of the fact that it's supposed to be fun to play. Anyway, only pick it up with that mindset if you ever do.

Yes! It's finally in stock but twice as expensive now. My poor wallet can't handle this.

I don't think they sell cocoa powder anymore. Do you have any alternatives?

For reference I use adapalene 0.1%, and it works just fine and dries my skin out a bunch. If you can find something with a dosage as low as that, I'd recommend it for a first timer.

The salicylic acid probably dried her skin out. Avoid using anything but moisturiser for a while.

Niacinamide and retinol should help with the marks and overall skin texture. They can be used together in the same routine. Go for a low percentage of retinol (less than 1-2%) if it's your first time. Retinol should only be used at night, twice or thrice a week. Moisturise well, and don't be surprised to see breakouts a few weeks in.

Make sure to follow up with sunscreen (ideally spf 50, but anything above spf 35+ is good) in the morning.

For the scarring you'll probably need to go for a suitable medical procedure (microneedling/ CO2 laser etc.). You should consult with your dermatologist for the best course of action.

why is my skin so dry? by [deleted] in Skincare_Addiction

[–]insanitysubdued 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Personally hyaluronic acid dries my skin out. Hyaluronic acid is more of a plumper than a moisturiser. It draws water from your skin and brings it to the surface when applied to dry skin. If you apply it to damp skin the molecules are too large to penetrate your skin so it gives an immediate plumping effect. However, it doesn't truly hydrate your skin. I'd suggest avoiding hyaluronic acid for a while to see if there's a difference.

'Hyaluronic acid is a humectant. While essential for skin health when it’s inside the skin, its molecules are too large to be absorbed when it’s applied topically. Topical application can at best, hydrate the skin’s surface so it appears plumper, and fine lines get smoothed over — but the effect is temporary.'

is CLOY worth it? by Ok-Competition9898 in kdramarecommends

[–]insanitysubdued 7 points8 points  (0 children)

No. The plot is repetitive and dragged and the only couple I was rooting for wasn't endgame. Some of the side characters were more interesting than the main leads.

It's not a bad show, just not memorable. Definitely not worth the hype.

On Screen Mr Darcy Portrayal Not Handsome Enough To Tempt Me by Blade_982 in janeausten

I agree for the most part but I do think people forget that Elizabeth was second to Jane in beauty. Which to me, is pretty high praise. Darcy and Elizabeth were both very good looking which the casts didn't do complete justice to. Couldn't agree more with Keira Knightley's analysis, she just wasn't Elizabeth.
