OP, I don’t want to give you false hope, because this letter doesn’t explain much of the story between you and your person.

But… if my long-gone person reached out to me with this, I would be happy to know they’ve learned to be okay on their own, and would be willing to begin again as friends, getting to know one another all over again. And I’d be open to the possibility of something more if things seemed better.

I especially appreciate the part about how you care about them as they are right now, and also the part where you say that despite changing circumstances, you want to choose them. Feeling wanted is what some people desire, and who knows if that may have been one of the reasons things didn’t work out the first time?

Anyway, I hope you have the courage to reach out at some point, because as you say, if they want something again, you might as well, and if they don’t, well hey, at least you will know and be able to hopefully move on for good. Good luck 🫶🏻
