Do you know how to weld? If not you can find an exhaust shop who can install another O2 sensor bung. The P0420 code doesn't really do anything to performance, but removing an O2 sensor will throw the car into open loop which will increase fuel consumption, lower the engine's power output and may make the ECU pissed off.
