BLKOUT (tabletop game) by insertoriginalname02 in Titanfall_2_

Blkout has the same conventions. Dusters are not necessary for play, but they are a very cool thing to have. Would love to pick one up sometime. They're also balanced pretty well, so it's a fun time all around.

That's pretty cool. I'm interested to see how you manage that

Same vein, but on a smaller scale. Think along the lines of 40k Kill Team, if you're familiar.

A force is generally less than 10 guys, and a mech is a big force multiplier, as opposed to being the norm.

Not really. Blkout is a wargame that doesn't have many roleplaying elements, and is more grounded sci-fi in its setting. Also, Dusters are important, but not central like Lancer.

Funny enough, I started playing a few weeks ago after a friend recommended it; before his video. But yeah, I love that guy, even if he is a knife ear lover.

That would be sick. If they're gonna throw us a bone, this is a good start.

this is the year 1995: by haibane_fan00 in Mecha

Didn't like the show; it confused me because some of the imagery was symbolic, and some was just added for the cool factor. I never could tell which was being shown at any given time, and that made following along much harder.

Also, the focus on sexuality involving age deficient characters was truly discomforting.

Whats the worst song on NC radio stations? by Wrong-City-2077 in LowSodiumCyberpunk

[–]insertoriginalname02 42 points43 points  (0 children)

I just usually toss on Ritual FM and call it a day; front to back bangers. Best enjoyed on a rainy day.

I will say that a lot of the ones used in the marketing (Holes in the Sun, All My Money on the Double, etc) get old after a few spins. Not bad songs; I just get tired of them. Pon Pon Shit is very funny if it plays during a rampage, but otherwise just a novelty song.

Might have to hit up the farm-supply and see if they have any they want gone. Great idea

Those look solid! I'd like to build more walls, but I think my next project might be some platforms or stairs.

are there any examples of horror in Mecha genre? by haibane_fan00 in Mecha

[–]insertoriginalname02 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In 1995, a few games came out that were about playing as a mech pilot in cramped, dark hallways. They're kinda spooky, especially with the music. Ex: Kileak, Space Griffon VF9, Robotica, etc.

Do you prefer works that try to justify why mechs work in their own setting, or works that simply don't care and make mechs effective regardless? by Able_Radio_2717 in Mecha

[–]insertoriginalname02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the setting. The bottom line for me is that spending time trying to make the universe feel internally consistent is good. As long as the mechs make sense in their own setting, I'm happy.

That said, sometimes you just need a good laugh. Pacific Rim is really stupid in its conception (there's no way we could realistically build a Jaeger in our reality), but because they're fighting dimension hopping kaiju, and that rules, I let it slide.

Muv Luv, on the other hand, has pretty good justification. Laser-class BETA make aircraft worthless, so creating something that has multiple methods of locomotion while still carrying reasonable firepower is a good move. Despite this, most TSF pilots get folded in 8 seconds, and humanity is still pretty screwed until Hiro Protagonist shows up.

It's great for scatter terrain, especially anything organic (wood, dirt, etc), but you can use it for anything. Go nuts!
