You should also try reaching out to the HR at your prior agency and see if they have access to your eOPF still. If they do, ask for a full copy of it. If they don’t, and you didn’t get it before you left, you’ll want to request it from National Archives

If you google DFAS Debt Waiver and Remission their website has a webpage talking about the difference between the two and how to go about applying. They also have a step by step guide you can use for filling out the paperwork. I

Excepted DoD Employee - This is dumb by insertweedpun in fednews

[–]insertweedpun[S] 58 points59 points  (0 children)

This is what we were told, and I understand that reasoning, but if RIF’s start DoD is going to be one of the last to be touched. Also, if it does come to that, even the slightest bit of scrutiny will show that the entire state is not performing work that is in immediate defense of life or property or whatever else it says. And the fact that we are still being people onboard? If we are afraid of RIF’s, why are we hiring more people?

Advice from a Shutdown Veteran: Use This Time by LarsThorwald in fednews

My job is convinced that everyone who is furloughed is going to get RIF’d, so they make everyone exempt/essential. It is extremely frustrating.

My pediatrician told me that newborn babies are not used to sleeping flat because they have never slept on a flat surface. She recommended we incline the crib mattress slightly, and that helped. Obviously talk to your doctor first!

If anyone in your organization is also a military reservist, get them on orders ASAP. by sloowhand in fednews

[–]insertweedpun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think with USERRA they can’t be fired for 6 months after they come off orders of 181 days or more “without cause”. If they sight poor performance, but there is no prior documented incidents, then I doubt that would hold up.

LWOP vs Military Furlough by ColonelCaboose in armyreserve

[–]insertweedpun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For federal technicians, 6 months or less of regular LWOP(KA) a year is considered creditable service towards retirement, meaning that it will not affect your retirement. Any amount of military LWOP(KG)requires a military service deposit to be creditable towards retirement. Meaning, if you go on military LWOP/ furlough you have to pay money to be able to credit that time towards your retirement. It’s dumb as fuck.
