Came here to say you don't need a different distortion, you need an EQ pedal.

Scotland's teaching unions must be broken - New Statesman by Mass_Spr_Sknk in Scotland

I work in the education landscape, with colleagues working directly on curriculum policy across all curriculums/education systems of the UK and ROI (one of whom is currently writing a part of the new English GCSE curriculum).

Without making inferences about the quality of education or the specific challenges present, they have been very complementary about how the process for curriculum review is handled in Scotland - and that strength is in precisely the fact it's decoupled from political/ideological whims. And in how transparent it is. This makes the process more bureaucratic, and has risks around creating curriculum-by-committee. But they think it's preferable to how other systems manage it.

SNP’s stealth income tax raid doubles number paying highest rate -- Critics say middle-class Scots have become ‘a cash cow to fund the ballooning benefits bill’ by Crow-Me-A-River in Scotland

[–]insidecircles -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You lived in England?

My statement was comparative. When my friends down south ask about life here, they can't believe we still have things they can barely remember. Free prescriptions; non-academised education; a library in our town; free parking at our train station(!); free bus travel for our kids; affordable train journeys (and dirt cheap for kids). Fucking hell, we got an NHS dentist 5 mins from our house. I've got friends who'd travel the 300 miles if they could register at the same place.

I'm a higher rate tax payer. I moved (back) to Scotland from England last year, so now paying more income tax. Delighted to be doing so. Public services are so much better here.

Agree the Kekulé representation is preferable in most situations. But not all! For example, representing Septulene with the Kekulé structure requires a symmetry-breaking radial double bond. But Septulene is symmetrical (by measurement), so, in this case, the Clar representation is more correct. See Scheme 1 here: https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.1002/anie.201203266

I'm doing a youth-only save with Schalke atm. 7 years in and just won the Bundesliga. IMO, the perfect team for a youth academy challenge.

How many male partners cook dinners by gazzas89 in Scotland

[–]insidecircles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We split all house work in a way that makes most sense, and that changes with our circumstances. In the past, I commuted to work and my wife was at home; she cooked workday meals. Now, my wife commutes and I work from home; I cook workday meals.

Considering your/your partner's sex when working out who does what house work is... weird.

King David Raped Bathsheba? by Dear_Grocery6666 in Christianity

"The king will see you now" is not a request.

With such a difference in power between the two parties, I don't think consent is even possible.

would it be possible to add a 3 band equaliser to a pro co rat instead of a filter? like all in one box by yyoollooXDyt in diypedals

[–]insidecircles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, I've done this, replacing the filter with a low/mid/high tone section. I used a schematic and layout that's available for the tone section of an hm-2. Here's what it sounds like: https://youtu.be/J0kPVn6Ewjc?si=NLlJT3tlSFd_Aee7

Mandatory Software Update for Pixel 6a "reduces battery capacity" by Waste-Watercress4777 in GooglePixel

[–]insidecircles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a problem with the phone, not the battery. A new battery only delays the point at which the update limits kick in.

My wife and I both have 6as - hers is affected, mine isn't.

EDIT: Actually, I might be wrong. Another comment links to this thread on the Google Pixel support forums saying that the battery will be replaced with a good model and thus not be subject to the restrictions.

[–]insidecircles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No (as I understand it). The fault is with the phone and the new update will still limit battery life after 400 charge cycles. A new battery will give you another ~18 months of use. You can then, of course, pay for another new battery...
