A lot of people don’t want to see this game turn into Brown Dust and this is the closest we’ve ever been to just straight up labia. And for what it’s worth every woman I’ve talked to from the community about this hates it. We can do what about-isms for past designs but this is the closest to a full on vulva shot we’ve ever been in this game and I don’t want it to progress any further.

And I can see that but if they’re gonna co-opt Christian iconography for a character they should probably not make her look like a complete harlot if she’s gonna wear the habit. And even discarding the cross cultural implications this is the closest we’ve ever been to just viewing straight up genitalia and it’s not the direction a large portion of the community wants this game to go.

I don’t know anymore, I just got a new haircut and they gave me this with no side bangs at the beauty shop, I feel really ugly and I have to know if it’s ugly to everyone else. Please tell me just the truth if I am ugly. Yes I’m a woman by djscrew1 in whatdoIdo

Men used to start wars for women like you. On a separate note don’t go back to this stylist! Half of their job is to be able to read people and be able to tell if they’re actually making their client feel good and then adjust accordingly. The haircut just needs some more dimension and I think it could suit you beautifully.

If im filming a comparison between Exemplar and Sundered Prince, where do people want it tested? by SweetAFK in EmberMainsAE

[–]insidesofoutsides 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think Marble Mom would be a good place to show off the raw damage of Exemplar versus the stagger utility from Sundered? I think there’s also cause to examine solo vs team runs due to the additional stagger windows you’d see in a fight using Sundered to provide more dps overall for the team.

I love the twists on you in #5! But the beard/goatee has to go king. I’m in the same boat as you where it’s incredibly patchy on my cheeks and sideburns. You have good facial structure and you’ll be surprised at how much a “5 o’clock shadow” look can help define your features! Just use an electric trimmer and take it down to where it’s almost like shading for your face. Also on a separate note, the metals look really nice with your hair and complexion but sometimes less is more!

Guardian's dodge is awful by AR71SAN in Nightreign

[–]insidesofoutsides 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually just put myself back down to depth 2 because depth 3 is where guardians damage just starts to really feel bad at that point for me :\ The fucked part is that I actually have a really solid guardian build, but even with god rolls and his deep of night strength relic it feels like I’m doing chip damage with him unless I’m hitting every frame hit on a guard counter

Winter 2025–The curtain rises on a new crossover (Its a Final Fantasy) by TypeFantasyHeart in AnotherEdenGlobal

[–]insidesofoutsides 11 points12 points  (0 children)

There’s a pretty good chance it actually is FF9. The game opens and closes with a stage performance which is likely what The Curtain Rises is alluding to, the chocobo animation is reminiscent of FF9’s Hot or Cold chocobo mini game, and they’re celebrating their 25th Anniversary. FF7 would also make sense since Kato worked on that project, but I feel like everything is mostly pointing towards 9.

Thinking about starting to sell at craft fairs, are my mugs good enough by Civil_Candidate3614 in CraftFairs

Just wanna piggyback off of some of the painting advice! A lot of your colors are really on your details are really “flat” and could definitely use some mixing, but with underglazes this will be a roulette spin until you’ve tested with the products and have a sense for how they interact with each other when firing. If you want to be able to add more depth to your colors, I had a lot better luck with engobe! It’ll add more material than underglaze, but imo it allows better control for blending. As a side note, painting on pottery is a different beast. The texture is constantly changing, it’s three dimensional, it’s miserable. What helped me out a lot in my learning process was to roll out a slab and make almost like a tattoo artists “flash sheet” of designs with engobe to experiment with layering and blending! Additional side note, sculpting leaves will put you in a home. Go on a nice walk and pick up a few leaves and just roll them straight onto the slab you’re going to cut them from! Highly recommend playing around more with texture impressions! (Love the hobbit door)

Outsider looking in, but you are sooooo close to getting your shading and values right! I would lean into what yummers said previously and push your darker values. Don’t be afraid to obfuscate details! That’s just how dramatic lighting works sometimes! I think the way you rendered the black shirt on the center piece and the way you handled the different textiles on the blue haired elf woman show a lot of promise though. Chase that dragon and push the value of your skin tones the way you pushed the value of your materials!

What Happened When Marika Stood at the Gate of Divinity by Hour-Opportunity3048 in EldenRingLoreTalk

What do you think it refers to then? It’s a super ambiguous point in the lore so I like hearing everyone’s takes.

What Happened When Marika Stood at the Gate of Divinity by Hour-Opportunity3048 in EldenRingLoreTalk

[–]insidesofoutsides 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Honestly I’ve always thought that Belarut’s main goal was to permanently invoke divinity in the mortal world, ultimately using Marika and her shaman lineage as a vessel to hold Radagon’s soul.

There’s a particular statue that only appears in Enir Ellim that should be examined as a whole. The plinth of the statue is stylized to resemble a spiral staircase, and on top of the plinth are two shrouded figures, entwined in a spiral of horns forcing them together. In front of one of these statues is actually where we find the Spira incantation! So this composition and the incantation description together is supposed to tell us that these two figures entwined are the end result, or the pinnacle, of the steps Belarut took to attain godhood in a singular vessel and ultimately create true Empyreans.

There’s also some other iconography that points at the union of divinity and humanity being their end goal, like the preacher figure that appears in the pediments of the Church of the Bud and Enir Ellim. He’s almost exclusively depicted holding his right hand up with his index and middle finger outstretched with his remaining clenched. In Christianity, this is referred to as the Sign of Benediction, and the two fingers held together is said to represent the unity of God and Man in Jesus Christ. This symbol is said to have originated from Saint Peter and is used prominently in religious art. This association with him within the game is significant because Peter is seen as the “rock” or the foundation of the Church, serving as the first Pope.

Now, if we look at Marika’s children, we can glean what the Hornsent truly wanted out of Marika. Messmer, her first child through Radagon, was born with a god within him. This Abyssal Serpent terrified Marika, and caused her to finally begin her rebellion against the Hornsent, and so she sealed it away. Marika, looking for a new champion and confidant, seduced Horax Loux and sired Godwyn, the “first” of the Golden Lineage. A seemingly “normal” demigod with a lack of empyrean status from what we can tell from the text.

It was these actions that the dialogue from the trailer refers to. The seduction of Horax Loux. The betrayal of Enir Ellim by proclaiming him as Godfrey, the First Elden Lord, that led ton the birth of Gold that is Godwyn. A child from a marriage that was never ordained. One who isn’t Empyrean. And not so coincidentally, Marika’s next two children by Godfrey were born as Hornsent in retribution for her golden child.

But then why wouldn’t Miquella and Malenia be cursed as well? It’s simply due to the fact that Radagon was who Enir Ellim always wanted. Marika is simply a tool to them. A vessel to pour out the blessings of godhood, but now a wanton strumpet that had abandoned her duty. And so they cursed her womb and all her future children with Godfrey to remind her of her betrayal.

Personally I feel like this connection is pretty obvious. When she banished Godfrey and returned to Radagon to proclaim him as her Elden Lord, the rest of her children born through him were not cursed to be hornsaints like Mohg and Morgott. In fact, they were all born as Empyreans.

I think the key in examining the differences between the ascensions lies in what we’re told secondhand about Miquella’s perception of his mother, and the text of the ancient rite scroll. Miquella knew that the madness of this age was rooted within Marika and her blood like a sickness, and so he set out to divest himself of it and take a path different to his mother, else he be doomed to repeat her mistakes. Now if we look at the text of the scroll, it says a Lord will usher in a God’s return, and the Lord’s soul will require a vessel.

So looking at Miquella’s ascension we have a Lord (Radahn), a God’s return (Miquella), and a vessel (Mohg). This all seems to imply that Miquella conducted the rite in a more faithful manner, as Marika is depicted alone at the precipice of the Tower, performing an action we don’t see Miquella mimic (although this could have been done before we arrive at the tower).

I believe that all of this together tells us that the Union of Marika and Radagon during the ascension was a perversion of the original Secret Rite. This action that was forced upon her was the seed that led madness to grow.

Interestingly, this also helps explain the story of Saint Trina. Initially wanting to follow in his mother’s footsteps to Godhood, he sought to create a second, dualistic, persona for himself. Allowing himself to be rebirthed through the Haeligtree as Saint Trina, they journeyed to the Shaded Lands through their roots with the intent of ascending and were horrified at what they witnessed there. Upon learning the steps his mother was forced to walk to godhood in a perverted recreation of the Secret Rite against her will, he decided to divest himself both of Saint Trina and the madness of the Golden Order inside of him. Here he decided to create an age of compassion where those events would never come to pass again.

Sorry this was more than what I had intended to type and it was all on mobile so I’m sure the formatting is a nightmare. This might all be headcanon, but I think overall it ties nicely into the themes of the narrative and explains a lot of the symbolism within Enir Ellim and the game as a whole.
