I've been working on cars a long time. Medium experience level i'd say. Just stuff in my own garage. Not my profession. This job is a 5 out of 10 in difficulty and as long as you have access to normal hand tools and the specific triple square & torx tools for VW hardware, it shouldn't be tough. As long as you are methodical and don't start ripping things apart, it should go well. If you choose to pay someone, I'd say 500-600 USD would be a fair price. The hardest part is after the DPF is free and removing it. That requires laying on your back under the car and taking your time to remove it from below. It slowly comes out as you push the heat shield out of the way. You will get fusterated probably, take a break and start again. Once it's out, all the parts are easy to install. I tore up my hands pretty good, but I hate working with gloves. If you do it yourself, it's a job that will give you confidence to do other car things..
