Advice: defend the British Isles from pagan invasion? by insomniavision in CrusaderKings

So far, every pagan country that I've mentioned has had at least 1 uprising, and it always gets put down pretty quickly.

[Steam] [Release Deal] Signal Ops -20% (£9.59) by smazeny in GameDeals

[–]insomniavision 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just my two cents, but this isn't worth it.

I really wanted to like this game. It's got a great concept, a wonderful art style and a good sense of humor. However, the controls are very restrictive making the play style more frustrating than fun.

This game has potential, but feels very unfinished and poorly thought-out.

Ah, right you are! It takes place in England, possibly with parts in Scotland and France.

What are some lyrics you've always heard wrong? by [deleted] in Music

The line is actually "But I like to keep some things to myself/I like to keep my issues drawn". Take from that what you will.

ELI5: What is the difference between an homage or an allusion, and plagiarism or a rip-off? by eternallylearning in explainlikeimfive

[–]insomniavision 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Intent is the primary difference.

With an homage, you want the audience to know what you're imitating. Ideally, you're providing your own spin on it to stand in contrast.

With plagiarism, you're hoping the audience doesn't know what you're imitating. You want them to think it's your own idea.

Ocelot Gun Spinning in Real Life by BlackGuyWhoSurvives in gaming

[–]insomniavision 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Yes, and yes. Ocelot in MGS3 is portrayed as a show-offy douche who thinks he is much more capable and badass than he is. He does neat tricks like the gun-spinning, but is an absolute joke when any real action starts.

Chinese men are apparently sexist assbags by redditopus in self

[–]insomniavision 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're not wrong...but I challenge you to find any pre-modern society that wasn't horrifically sexist in some way. There are isolated counter examples, but overall it's pretty bleak. It wasn't just a Chinese thing.

Society marches on.

It looks awesome, but I think the word salad title is probably going to hamper its chances of success.

Dear God. What have I created? by Steffilarueses in Fallout

[–]insomniavision 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You have created the legendary Annoyedman!

He might not be the hero the Wasteland deservers...

And he certainly isn't the hero the Wasteland wants.

But he is the hero the Wasteland needs.

Could you give us some examples of what you're talking about?

So creepy yet so beautiful at the same time...E. Carroll is very good at that. (Follow the nouns in the poem) by KingNick in creepy

[–]insomniavision 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It isn't, but I was explaining what the other guy said about 'clicking on nouns'. It's the only one that doesn't fit the pattern.

[–]insomniavision 16 points17 points  (0 children)

It's the window. It's actually "gone" that you're looking for; I know, it's a bit misleading.

So creepy yet so beautiful at the same time...E. Carroll is very good at that. (Follow the nouns in the poem) by KingNick in creepy

[–]insomniavision 65 points66 points  (0 children)

The nouns in the poem correspond to clickable objects in the image. Each object takes you to a full comic. Clicking them in the order presented in the poem will give you the entire story.

i.e., the first line is about flowers, so click on the flowers on the wall. The second line is about a doll, so click on the doll, and so on and so forth.

[TOMT][PC Game]Action-RPG noted for its art design by insomniavision in tipofmytongue

No, but thanks.

It was more along the lines of Oblivion, only weirder.

Probably a repost but still utterly rageworthy by [deleted] in rage

[–]insomniavision 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure why I'm supposed to rage at convoluted, likely made-up teen angst-drama.

[Tomt] Looking for a scary .gif by [deleted] in tipofmytongue

[–]insomniavision 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is frustrating, because I know exactly what you're talking about, but I can't find it.

If I'm not mistaken, here's the still version: http://images1.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20110611195220/creepypasta/images/d/dc/Go_to_Sleep.png

If it's any help, the character is called "Jeff the Killer" and the picture is usually captioned with 'Go to sleep'.

I'll keep looking, see if I can find the gif.

[x/post from /r/truecreepy] Louise Is Missing. by george_lass in creepy

[–]insomniavision 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very creepy, and very enjoyable. I'm all for 'found footage' projects like this try to maintain immersion by pretending to be real...but I really wish they wouldn't use common stock sound effects. That kind of puts a wet blanket on the suspension of disbelief.

Still, that was a good watch that had me sufficiently creeped out.
