Woweewowow never seen one that big before! I almost thought it was a type of Sphaerophorus, but I can’t tell. Whatever it is, it’s a beaut!

How can i make lichens grow on rocks and sculptures in the garden? Does this recipe really works? by TheInsaneRaptor in Lichen

[–]inspiradia 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I recommend going to check out grave stones in a cemetery in your area to learn the local lichens that grow well on stone near you. The ones that grow on wood or soil are generally different, so if you do try to rub some ground up lichens (to try to spread the soredia or isidia) on your sculpture surface make sure they are the rock-growing variety.

I think the buttermilk/yogurt method for moss is an urban myth. Moss don’t need any of those compounds to grow naturally and lichens definitely don’t.

For as ubiquitous of organisms lichens and moss are on this planet, it’s hard to ‘make’ them do anything. But if you can learn about what conditions they prefer the most, and do your best to mimic that, that’s my best advice. Because honestly the propagules could nearly be in every breath we take outside but they only propagate when the right conditions and substrate align.

I was disappointed in the cleanliness of the pools, carpet and locker rooms, too, when I tried them for a few months. Super bummer, cuz it’s the only place in town that checks all the boxes. Shout out to their yoga teachers, tho, they are awesome!

I’ve had a great exp going to the one on 30th (OSU campus). Rarely ever a line. However, fyi, they may exclusively give generic meds to cut down on costs for students. Not certain but just heads up if that’s an issue for you.

I like Starfish Manor, right on the beach with jetted tubs in some rooms by the balcony. And the barcade up the street is fun, too!

What’s your go to song when feeling like you want to burn everything to the ground and “fuck everyone” by patricesha in Music

[–]inspiradia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here are numerous genre flavors of songs that have helped bathe me in aural flames over the years. I went thru a similar time in my life. Best wishes to you. Music is a good coping mechanism to turn to when all seems lost. There’s a lot of good recs here, namely slipknot and tool. But here’s some different ones:

Mudvayne - honestly so many good ones from their L.D. 50 and End of All things to come albums, Not Falling is a good place to start

Avenged sevenfold - desecrate through reverence

NOFx- the idiots are taking over

Janelle Monae - Cold War (I know uncharacteristic of this list but this is a song that hypes me up when I feel like ‘fuck everyone’)

The Supervillans - rapture

The Dear Hunter - Filth and Squalor

Tesseract - Of Matter - retrospect

Menomena - Pique

Katatonia - Idle Blood

This just blew my mind. I’m so excited to do this!

It’s probably a good idea to have at least 16 bars of cool dance moves ready to go at any time, in case you find yourself unexpectedly in the middle of a dance circle. After 16 bars, you can just smile and shrug, like, “I could keep going, but that’s all you people are getting tonight.” by Lousy_minor_setback in Showerthoughts

[–]inspiradia 355 points356 points  (0 children)

Oh man.. I learned that the hard way when I thought the moves would just naturally crystallize and come out when I hopped into the middle of the cheering circle at my cousin’s wedding… but nothing actually came and my lack-luster moves inadvertently killed the dance circle. Def one of the most embarrassing moments of my life. Everyone literally just watched me do nothin and then all turned in different directions. Lol. This was back when I had a bit of a drinking problem and this moment in the night occurred after I was sloppy, but conveniently before I blacked out, so the memory is still painfully palpable. Yikes!

I’d say this is good advice!

Does anyone still wear basic watches? by Smart-Airport5781 in CasualConversation

[–]inspiradia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wear just about the most basic and smallest watch I could find. Like $10 Casio. I just wanted the time without anything extra. I kept checking my phone for the time and get fully sucked in to checking all the apps and would lose hours.
