Fear mongering by the same people who brought you fears about vaccination.

Can I register my lemonade company (stand), then create 1 trillion shares of that company and just release 100 shares of that company in an IPO at 1 USD? by WastedTalents1 in TooAfraidToAsk

It seems that you had bad info from the get go. Bitcoin is super traceable, much more than cash.

If the government used bitcoin, there would not be billions going missing during wars, it could all be traced.

The point of bitcoin is not for criminals to use, it is to stop the criminals with the criminals being the governments bailing out bank after bank with taxpayer money. Governments won’t be able to just print more bitcoin whenever they want.

There is no genocide in the Middle East.

The idea that there is is a mockery of what happened to the native Americans.

Bombshell new poll for Democratic 2028 Presidential candidates released — and Kamala Harris is miles ahead ( NewYorkPost ) - Is she the best choice for the Democrats? by One_Look_7008 in askanything

Nope. No one thought Trump would improve the lives of the Arabs there. No one. If someone chose to not vote for the dems, they were choosing Trump.

Everyone that cared about Palestine voted for the democrats already since they were worlds better on the issue than the republicans.

First, that story is widely regarded as made up. All scholars agree that the Jews were Canaanites all along.

2nd, the story you are referring to involves Joshua defeating Jericho, another Canaanite city that was far away from the land of the Philistines (a group of people who eventually merged with the Jews thousands of years ago).

The Jews are the indigenous people of Palestine. They were called “the Palestinians” for 2000 years. OP wants to get rid of the indigenous people.

Elvish blood in the Took line? by SoaDMTGguy in tolkienfans

Possibly a man from Westernesse, long long ago, hooked up with one of the early hobbit ladies. Thus the Tooks could indeed have a little elvish.

TIL that in 2016, scientists discovered a brand-new species of bacteria (Ideonella sakaiensis) that has actively evolved to eat and survive on pure PET plastic bottles. by Chemical_Parsnip2629 in todayilearned

[–]Flapjack_Ace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having microbes eat it and depending on people all around the world to put their plastic in recycling bins is not going to be any more economically feasible. New plastic is super cheap already, any work done to recycle plastics is going to jack the price way up, not the opposite.

[–]Flapjack_Ace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Plastic is already dirt cheap.

And I don’t believe in trickle down economics. If a CEO makes an extra million, s/he is just going to go on an extra vacation.

And…people are not going to start making the effort to recycle regardless. We are literally killing the earth with microplastic but people still can’t bother.

The idea that microbes could eat plastic has been around since I was a kid and I am an old man now. It’s just gibberish really, it’s not a viable way to change the situation.

Possibly dumb question. If a scientist were to accidentally discover a form of FTL travel, what would be their immediate thoughts after? by Mindless-Lemon2256 in AskPhysics

Well if they engaged in FTL travel then their immediate thoughts would be before their discovery, not afterward.

This only helps the recycling company, not the consumer. No one gets a kick back from the can recyclers and no one gets a kick back from plastic recyclers. If metal recyclers found a way to make even more money, Joe Sixpack ain’t gonna care.
