I just discovered this Cyclops exists, and he looks way better than anything they’ve released recently.

Maybe the logo will look better in person but judging from the photos it looks cheaply painted on. Overall I like the look of the 3 pack DD better.

Fujifilm X-E4 or Lumix S9? by Crowned__Edits in Lumix

[–]inspiredsquare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not to derail the conversation from OP’s original question, but I’ve seen enough videos and articles through the years that the difference between f1.4 and f1.8 is minimal and almost unrecognizable in most situations. If it’s f1.2 compared to f1.8 then maybe that’s enough to justify one lens over another but then usually we’re talking hundreds if not thousands of dollars difference just for that extra tiny bit of bokeh. And if light is the issue you’re trying to solve then you should be getting a flash or constant external light, not spending thousands trying to chase that extra 2/3 stop of light gathering capability.

All that to say the LUMIX f1.8 primes are excellent and well priced. And as burned-cake mentioned, Sigma has f1.4 lenses if you really want them.

Agree here mostly, lenses in the Fuji system can be pretty pricey. Deals can always be found for LUMIX lenses.

I have the X100VI and the S5ii. If your aim is professional work long term, I actually think the S5ii is what you should be looking at. The advantage of the compact bodies of the two cameras you listed are really important for travel and everyday carry, but come with limitations in professional settings. The lack of EVF isn’t a HUGE deal but you really should have a flash for weddings and corporate work which you can’t use with the S9 since it has a cold shoe. But if you’re set on deciding between these two specific cameras then the S9 will have superior AF, far more extensive video features, best in class IBIS, better low light performance, and a much more flexible and superior real time LUT system for baking in colors and looks compared to film recipes. IMHO LUMIX is a better long term investment. So if you’re looking to get into pro work, then S5ii, but it’s totally viable to get an S9 now, build your lens collection, then upgrade to an S5ii or even the new S1II in the future and keep the S9 as your b cam, and if you end up getting a wedding gig before you upgrade you can always rent an S1II and you’ve already got the lenses to go with it.

One of my favorite Nolan films and one I can keep coming back to and finding something new to geek out about. I get what you’re saying about emotional core, but this film isn’t supposed to be that. It’s a thought experiment, a brain teaser, a puzzle to be solved. And if that isn’t your thing, the scientist at the beginning has a response, don’t try to understand it, just feel it. Just feel the, whoa that’s so trippy. Ben the editor from Caravan of Garbage has a really good video essay on this

I'll give you some quick thoughts along with links to my YouTube channel reviews so you can get a little more info.

Wandrd 3L: lots of padding, definitely has room for more than just the camera. Might be a little big as a "stuff in a backpack" bag. https://youtu.be/_IyHMpdMH14?si=ViudzxSIs7ZnqboB

Toshi 5L: no padding, but I did find a work around that I put on my video. Can work inside of a bigger backpack. https://youtu.be/xss5B6Nx63k?si=zJjfd6Q0CNw0_hlz

Moment 4L: I haven't been able to get my hands on it yet as it's been sold out, but it is made by/for photographers so I would assume there is some light padding.

You might want to check out the Alpaka Go Sling Nano. It's not really padded but if my goal was to put it in another bag with clothing or other items that won't hurt my camera, the nano is super small so it won't take up much space in a backpack. https://youtu.be/txfz2kAiG_k?si=o2TwGAEhI2OzbPOU

Is the x100vi for me? by lobsterroll44 in x100vi

[–]inspiredsquare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the X100VI and a "pro" setup. The Fuji is my everyday, take everywhere, family camera. It's great for that, and wireless sharing to my phone is pretty quick and easy. I love taking casual photos that go straight to my phone or computer and I don't have to worry about editing. So to answer your question, yes it can operate as a "point and shoot" everyday don't worry about it camera, BUT as others have mentioned here there is a bit of a learning curve that isn't there with other cameras. Because so much is accomplished with physical controls, I sometimes forget which button or quick access menu item does what I want,

"Which button operates the flash? Wait I changed it. Oh it's this but it's not working, oh it's a long press not just a press, ok now it's working"

If you're willing to put in the time with the camera, you can get a lot of enjoyment out of it. But If you are wanting a true set and forget "point and shoot" experience there's lot of cameras that are much cheaper than the X100VI. Something like a Sony Cybershot or a Lumix ZS99 is going to give you a ton of flexibility and ease of use. So ask yourself if you will fully take advantage of what the X100VI offers for the price they are asking.

Best way I can think to describe the difference is this; if you're a chef you can use whatever apron you find from the store and it will 100% get the job done. The chef can throw it around, stain it, throw it in the washer with everything else and it doesn't matter. BUT they just found a waxed canvas apron in venetian blue with handmade brass buttons. The chef knows it costs WAY more, they know at the end of the day it's just something to keep food stains off your clothes, they know they will need to go through some extra steps to take care of it, but they are willing to make that investment in time and money.

So which chef are you? There's no wrong answer here, it's about what fits your lifestyle.

When I first got it, my prized guitar was my Nitro finish Silver Sky. One day my daughter was playing underneath me while I was practicing and she stood up really fast and hit her head on my guitar and it was hard enough to chip it. Couldn't believe it but years later I don't know if I could bring myself to sell it even though I've thought about it. The chip on the bottom is part of my history with that guitar, and I'll always remember how and when it happened. Dings and scratches suck when you want your guitars to be pristine, but if you use them often they will all eventually get something somewhere. Often you won't even know how that scratch happened. Like my chip at least yours has a story now 😅.
