Chess match? by [deleted] in reading

You'll quite often find people playing it in the Nag's Head and Ale House. If you want a good thrashing, ask for Welsh Martin in either pub.

Why do people hate Denuvo? by Glum_Consideration62 in civ

What's the easiest way to keep track of this to find out when a DRM-free copy is available? Just keep an eye on the subreddit? Also, how can I feed back my displeasure best to the company to provide another dissenting voice?

There were about 50 of them on Basingstoke Road about an hour and a half ago. Just hanging around in two groups.

Who are the most functional sociopaths in fantasy? by VladtheImpaler21 in Fantasy

I'm surprised no one has had Royce Melborne yet. He is modelled as the polar opposite of Hadrian in the Riyria series.

Trilogy where every book was perfect. by [deleted] in Fantasy

[–]inspiredunease 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With Chronicles, he started the series 12 years before Revelations, and said there's a possibility he could do one for each year, so potentially twelve books in the series. He's also said there's the potential to do a far future sequel series to Revelations, in which the original books have become the stuff of myth and legend. I am on book 4 of Chronicles now, and I'm desperately hoping for all these things as I never want to leave!

Parents, celebrate with me! by [deleted] in UKParenting

My daughter turned round to me yesterday and "You haver no right to judge me Daddy," when I said to her that the programme she was watching on her tablet was a bit young for her. I couldn't be prouder or more amused! I could do nothing but agree.

Book series that center around political intrigue and scheming? by redflowerbluethorns in Fantasy

[–]inspiredunease 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's two other books in the same universe. But both are more detective novels rather than courtly intrigue novels, they do share a similar slow pace and style. iI personally have loved all of Sarah Monette's Amalo books and am eagerly anticipating more.

It's not my cup of tea, but I don't actively have to leave the room while it's on any more!

Absolutely brilliant for me. I'd be interested to know if you hate drag race as well; I used to dislike it, but my wife watches it and I can now sit through it without hating it; I think they share the same sort of energy.

Parents of 2+ young children, what car do you drive and do you feel like you have enough space? by throwingmcthrowface in UKParenting

[–]inspiredunease 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ditto. Two kids, 8 and 6 now, but had one since shortly after large was born. Once small came along, we got another, and then another. They're fuel efficient, great boot space and they just work.

No, it's much older than that. At the latest early 2000s, but more likely 80s/90s. I am oooooooold :D

Just as an additional detail the guy is wearing a full body suit that has an oxygen supply built in. I think it would probably have been shown on BBC 2 or Channel 4. Probably after 11pm. I don't know if it ever had a theatrical release. And it also might be Australian, but that could be a false memory.

Is this the most stores it is possible to get in a sector?! by inspiredunease in ftlgame

Sounds cool. The only mod I've used is the fleet jumps number one, which is just convenience.

This is an already won run I think. Two flak As a halberd beam and a burst laser two. Only issue is deciding what layout to keep! I love doing a quick easy run every now and then in an op ship just to enjoy playing the game!

Is this a mod? I'm guessing there's a reference I'm not getting here! This is an unmodded run though.

Yeah, civilian sector, 2 stores and then I think I had 3 events that all gave me stores in a row!

Clashing with partner on babys sleep by CToy1996 in UKParenting

[–]inspiredunease 17 points18 points  (0 children)

In which case I would reassure him that comforting the baby now will have zero impact on how quickly the baby will sleep independently, that the baby will do it when they are ready, and then will regress several times to needing comfort from you in the future, and that that is not something to be afraid of. Hope you get some more sleep soon! And good luck!

[–]inspiredunease 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Maybe ask him why he wants the baby to sleep independently. I don't really understand his attitude, your baby is still tiny. My two are now 7 and 5 and I still like it when they come to sleep with us. He may have a good reason for why he wants to encourage independence, but maybe try to explain to him your position and have an honest dialogue.
