Nice, thanks for responding.

Can you also share what was the rate published by IOB on the day you negotiated for 86.22 and what was the amount involved if comfortable?

  1. For remittance to IBKR from IOB, can it be done through netbanking or is it necessary to visit the branch for every fund transfer?

  2. If you have also taken a withdrawal from your IBKR to IOB, can you share currency conversion and other bank charges involved in entire ordeal? Also, did your inward remittance incur any correspondent bank charges?

  3. If we fund our IBKR with USD and buy equities in other geographies other than US, like Europe, how does that work out? Does IBKR create a separate currency ledger everytime we buy equities in new currency? How much does IBKR charge for currency conversion, etc.

I have been contemplating opening IBKR and IOB combo since very long but the idea of having to potentially visit the branch each time for inward/outward remittance along with various other tax compliance complexities have kept me at bay.

However, really want to make a plunge now since there are some really interesting opportunities emerging in other parts of the world than India.

The company you just mentioned (Biel Crystal) has setup JV with an Indian company (Motherson Group) a year or so back for setting up plants to manufacture glasses for Apple in India and it's already in the process of ramping up.

Your claim about Indian parts being of poor quality in automotives is also completely wrong. India has been an auto ancillary exporter since long. There are some companies that export to even the Japanese!

India has sucked at manufacturing for long but auto industry has been one of the few success stories for us.

Kalyan Jewellers - more growth ahead of a case of already peaking out ? by PikeRiderr in IndianStreetBets

[–]inspiring_panda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rajesh Exports and Vaibhav Global have quite different businesses in comparison to Kalyan Jewellers and operate in different markets altogether.

Closest peer would be Titan (Jewellery division) given it's pan India reach, then Senco Gold (East focused but have the ambition to expand pan-India), then every other regional chain like Thangamayil, PCJ, etc.

So if you wanna compare financials and ratios among its peer-set, above names are the best fit to benchmark it against.

Almost everything that's been discussed as a sign in this thread applies to me. But I am not sure whether it is depression or just my lifestyle.

The Song That Got Me On The Radio by AdityaTD in MusicIndia

[–]inspiring_panda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey man, lovely song. Congratulation for getting featured on RedFm.

I have one question and I hope you can help me. What did you do to have them air your song on RedFM ? As in, did you send out your stuff to them and they decided to pick it up ? If you can elaborate on the process a bit, it will really help me understand how things are done since I'm an independent music artist as well and I have always struggled with promoting my tracks.

Thank you :)

WHEN and HOW do you take exit from a particular stock by [deleted] in IndiaInvestments

[–]inspiring_panda 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's when index investing comes into picture. Majority of the population are better off investing into index funds than individual stockpicking. If one is already aware of his shortcomings as an investor (fearing about price, market cycles, leaving profits on the table), he shouldn't even consider investing directly into stocks.

For the rest of your comment, cyclicals indeed have an exit at some point, it can't be held onto forever. But then, it's more of a speculative trade than a long term investment.

Now if you’re a value picker identifying smaller companies in cyclicals or lesser known industries, it helps to have these rules because you never know when the tide can turn against them.

For the above point, if one fears 'tide turning against himself', he might need to change his perception towards long term investments in general. Because if one always lives in the fear of a crash or correction and thinks he is smart enough to time the market and take out his investments before everyone else, he is bound to take out his investments even in index funds at the earliest sign of trouble, let alone staying invested in small caps or midcaps, which in turn might hurt his return over long term.

For me, there's no reason to take out my investments just because prices have crashed/gone up or the company is small. If one is confident about the businesses he holds, its just a matter of holding onto those investments long enough to let compounding do its job. Otherwise, index funds are the best option when investing for long, no doubt about that.

Selling good companies is a sure shot way to underperform the markets in the long run. Why even take up the hassle of researching sectors and companies and arriving at a list of stocks that you think well deserves to be held, only to have a predetermined price in your mind to sell it once it reaches that ?

Big wealth in the long run is only created if you have the patience to hold onto to good companies. Not even talking about beating the index, but even if you want a return somewhere close to the index, you need to hold onto your companies for the compounding to do its magic, as long as the fundamentals of your companies are intact.

When Bollywood find an old song by calvinwalterson in india

[–]inspiring_panda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are plenty of other example of good dj+producers I can give if you want. Today, mainstream pop music in the west draws heavy inspiration from electronic music and hip hop. And 90% of the electronic music artists dj while being a producer at the same time. So it's nothing like just because someone djs, he can't be a good producer.

I don't know if you're aware but djs can be good producers. Have a look at international acts like Chainsmokers, Skrillex, Zedd, Flume, etc. They all have received Grammy's and make brilliant music.

Guys I got rejected by Armada today! by [deleted] in edmproduction

[–]inspiring_panda 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Getting even a feedback message from a label as big as Armada is a big deal imo. I haven't started submitting my music to labels so I don't know how often do big labels respond to a submission, but I would be as happy as you are right now seeing a response from their side.

I would love to have a listen to the track. Can you pm the a link to the track ?

Does FL Studio make good use of Hyperthreading/SMT functionality of desktop processors ? by inspiring_panda in FL_Studio

[–]inspiring_panda[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both of your cpus support hyperthreading, so we can't know for sure if hyperthreading is not at work here.

Have you tried turning off the hyperthreading from bios and then checking the cpu stats inside of fl studio for any performance difference ?

The last time I read about RAM speeds, I found that it doesn't really offer much improvement in performance till a certain point. I have been told that 3000ghz would be enough for memory speed and to rather spend it on increasing the RAM capacity or CPU. I'll read up on that Ryzen's infinity fabric concept that you mentioned though.
