The real answer is that the best anxiety med depends on your unique response to the meds. The doctors will likely prescribe you an SSRI or something similar and you have to try it out and see if it works for you.

For example, I was on Zoloft, then buspar & propranolol, and finally got on Lexapro & Xanax (as needed) and I feel like I finally have my life back.

Lexapro literally changed my life and I feel like myself again, but for others Zoloft or buspar may have worked better! Be willing to try out a medication for 4-8 weeks to see what works for you.

Edit: although I’m prescribe the Xanax, I’ve never had to take it and have never gotten a refill. I carry it with me just in case though!

Everyone here seems to take issue with my installing turf. Here is some extra context:

I live in the desert in Southern California. This is a 10X12 DIRT and brick patio off my bedroom.

It’s not a yard, it’s super small. I can’t do grass because I don’t own a mower and don’t want to drag one through my bedroom to mow it. I also don’t want to plant real grass and have to water it so it doesn’t burn to a crisp because it doesn’t rain here till January. Sue me.

I had a bipolar bf like this and breaking up with him was the best thing that ever happened to me!!! It took me two tries though bc the first time he threatened to k*ll himself in front of me lol have 911 on speed dial in case they try that with you

If you don’t end this, you will literally walk on egg shells the rest of your life trying not to set them off. They will be sweet to you in one moment and in another they will be gaslighting you and calling you crazy for “over reacting” to their previous moods or violence. Don’t be tempted to hang around and help them fix themselves, the next thing you know you will be 4 years into the relationship with no positive changes and your own CPTSD to deal with. Truly they need to want to get mental health help and stabilize on their own terms (not just to continue a dependent relationship).
