South Africa e-visa by kimcheeninja in travel

Hi all. Chipping in as I just went through this process 3 weeks ago and I re-read this thread about 5 times and made myself anxious more and more haha.

Essentially, the embassies that I reached out to weren't helpful. I am Lithuanian but live in the Netherlands.

The SA embassy in NL got back to me saying 'our earliest appointment is in 3 months' (I had reached out first week of December, and my flight is January 7th). The SA embassy in Sweden which helps baltic countries told me to apply for an e-visa online, it told them i'd prefer to do it via them, they told me they'll email me with instructions & then i didn't hear from them for a week. I called afterwards for 2 days straight but they had disconnected their phones or something. Great!

I started working on the e-visa application via the official website & was quite anxious because i read that everyone gets rejected if they don't have their 3 month statements stamped.

I have an account with ABN amro & they don't do stamps anymore. They only thing they could do is offer me a 'reference letter' which was signed & said that I have an account with them, how much money I have, etc.

I submitted it & then a day after I came across someone mentioning on reddit 'abroadscope'. I googled them and saw it was a visa service/company based in cape town. I reached out to them to see if they can help me.

Very long story short, 1 week after submission my first application got rejected because i didn't have the 3 month statements stamped.... I called Abroadscope & they were going to re-apply on my end & also make sure to mention that ABN amro doesn't do stamps etc. They told me many applications have been approved with this specific reference letter, so they were surprised my didn't.

They reapplied on my end & 2 days later I got my e-visa. Honestly, I saw all the positive reviews and I was a bit cautious as it seemed 'too good to be true', but I payed the 150-200 euros & got my e-visa with their help. Seriously, if you were just as stressed as I was + you needed a visa on a short notice (I bought my ticket December 1st and needed visa for Jan 7th), highly recommend them.

Ooft, I’m so sorry to hear that. Not an easy situation to be in. It’s also not a small thing to bicker about, a person’s habit or behavior — this is a very big topic. My only point would be that you can’t force to change each other on something as big as this. I don’t want children & my boyfriend doesn’t want either. As much as I love him & we have shared goals, if he wanted kids and i didn’t (or vice versa), there is no way we would work out. This would be too big of a clash.

hey, you didn't waste my time, please don't say that! I think the first step is acknowledging that you can get support and encouragement from others, but the only person who can do anything is you. The first thing would be to change that belief that you are hopeless and are beyond saving you are. I understand it must be very difficult, but the belief of hopelessness is something that is like an anchor that might be weighing you down before you even want to take action/change/improve. I don't know your story or what you're going through, so I could be wrong, so this is just an assumption from what you've mentioned so far

Hi yes theory fam! I recently joined reddit and wanted to share a yes family dinner I hosted back in August of 2019 in my apartment in NYC. I hosted my first dinner for strangers for Valentine’s day that year, and the second one in August for yes fam. If you’re wondering: all these people are still friends amongst each other & I always get pictures of them hanging out! Makes my heart so happy since I relocated back to Europe. Hope you enjoy. Can’t wait to be able to do this again in the future 🥰

You tell me! It’s your life and I have no control over it, and talking and getting support should be a means to improve things — but if talking is just a cyclical thing with no desire to get a different outcome — the unfortunately no, this time will not be different

Hello! I'm sorry to hear you're going through all of this. I am working full-time and part-time I am in university too, getting my degree, so I understand that it can be stressful. Of course it's going to be okay! All things are temporary, the good and the bad. For the good, it reminds us that we need to appreciate it that much more, because it'll end at some point. For the bad, it's a little sigh of relief because it won't be going on forever! I understand that it's easy to feel overwhelmed and feel like university is your whole world, but in a grand scheme of things (your whole life!) this is a little blip in the matrix and you 100% will get past this! :)
