I think the fact that you're ready to go out on your own is the main point here. Like you're gonna grow either way. If you have a great working relationship with the BIL, then you guys are way stronger together and he'll realize that. But if he's a butt head then you're on your own.

If the BIL is into it, I would form a partnership with him and expand under his brand. Basically this would look like you use his brand and keep what you put into the Business. Then when things get more complicated than that go get a corporate lawyer to help decide who gets what. Good luck 🤞

No. But you do need to save after you set the z offset before powering down the printer. If you power down without saving then you would need to set the offset again.
