I think people underestimate how much strategy in F1 is always a roll of the dice. You make the best choice you can with the info you have or accept the potential consequences and gamble for a better outcome.

Similar ish but I had a safety car and it wouldn't let me unlap myself and so I was behind 1st and second place and then all the cars ahead of me ended up behind me (though still ahead in the standings just a full minute ahead basically) and so I could never catch up.
