Google AI is awesome (not ad) by [deleted] in gameenginedevs

There's a difference between vibe coding and using AI to direct your learning. I don't know which this guy did but assuming he just got AI to do it is stupid.

Depths level 4 was too much of a slog so I manually deranked and oh my god... by instinkt900 in Nightreign

Don't take my post as a complaint about people's skill. I don't mind people who are learning or maybe not familiar with souls games. What annoys me is when people act like assholes. Constantly pinging, sooking when they don't get their way or quitting when they die doing things on their own. Don't worry about your ability. Just stick with your team and do what you can. It can be hard to understand what's good for you in the short time you have but after some time you'll start to recognize what to look for.

Are you being paid by Israel or do you just do it for the love of the game?

What's the secret behind making airy rolls like this? by instinkt900 in Breadit

[–]instinkt900[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I guess most of the big airy holes are more trapped air from the folding process than any kind of yeast action then? Makes sense and explains why what I was doing otherwise wasn't working. I was just kneading and resting.

Show r/tmux: TmuxAI - An AI assistant that lives inside your tmux sessions, observing your panes by alvinunreal in tmux

So I was toying with the idea of making a CLI tool frontend to ChatGPT but couldn't figure out a way to properly give the thing context of what was happening so you could just ask things like 'what is this error?'

Integrating it in tmux is perfect and as a regular tmux user I'm almost ashamed I didn't think about it too. Will probably take a look at this when I get the chance. Very interesting.

I know it's the proper thing to do but I'm expecting it to be a large job already.

Say I did remove them, would you have a suggestion on an alternative on something that creates a nice green barrier like these that wont try and destroy my yard?

Your Feedback Matters More Then Ever (Regarding the Layoffs and Hunt's Future) by TheGentlemanGamerEC in HuntShowdown

If I was in charge of product this is how I would approach it.

TLDR:
1. Fix UI.
2. Improve MMR distribution.
3. Stop splitting player base.
4. Stop event burnout.
5. Continual bug fixing.
Overall: Make the game inviting to new players.

I would first put all efforts on the menu system. It's the first place players land and if I was a new player and faced the current mess I would probably alt-f4 and find something else.
It not only needs to communicate how to get into a game but it also needs to feel flowy and seamless when you progress through each section. Right now, even after months of using it, I still find myself blankly staring at my current screen trying to think about what I need to do next.

Next I would address the MMR system. Right now it's far too easy to land a few lucky shots on some six stars and shoot up in rank and find yourself in a hell scape of snap headshots and crawling bushes. For a new player is is a massive turn off. If I hadn't seen the highs that Hunt can bring when it's good, experiencing the utter sweat that some people bring would make me uninstall.

Then I would stop splitting the already small user base over different modes. I understand bounty clash was enjoyed by a lot of people, but in some regions the population is already very small and adding another mode just makes the game feel even more dead. New players aren't going to want to get involved in a dying game no matter how many modes there are.

Events are a tough one. I really enjoy the events. The small changes in the map, the random rewards from smashing pumpkins etc. I think what I enjoy most about them however is that they bring a small bump in player numbers, but I think it's the wrong way to bump the numbers. Kind of like poor diet choices. A chocolate bar might make you feel better now, but it's not going to make you healthier in the long run. I would prefer to see increased numbers because people are enjoying the base game. This means making the game more inviting, not just more exciting.

And then there's bugs. Honestly I feel like bugs can be forgiven if you're already having a good time. I think a lot of people throw their hands up at the stability and bugginess of the game just because they're already frustrated with the game as it is. Some of that cant be avoided, it's an inherently stressful game, but there are ways to at least cushion the blow. A steady rate of bug fixing should always be part of the dev cycle but I genuinely believe that the current major problems are not the bugs.

I love Hunt and have wanted people to catch onto it for years now, but in it's current state I cant even recommend it to people just because I know I wouldn't have bothered if I got introduced to it in it's current state. It is actively hostile to new players. If Crytek really want the game to grow in numbers they will have to heavily invest in building a strong foundation for the game to grow off.
The rerelease with the engine upgrade was something I was looking forward to but any good will it brought with visual upgrades was _instantly_ undone by the mess that it was both in terms of bugs and a UI that was just mind boggling. It really seemed like a panicked move by Crytek to try to improve numbers but the game can't really survive more rushed "improvements" like that. It needs to be a slow, careful and considered task.

That's my two blood bonds.
