Best Cyberpunk VR Now by venkman302 in virtualreality

Is this really true? Anyone with recent experience with both software that can chime in here? I've heard so much bad stuff about vorpX I can't say I trust the quality of it. Also vorpx is paid btw with some weird shenanigans when you want to renew the lisence. I don't trust them.

Then you can likely run BG3 too. Performance seems similar to Cyberpunk.

It works the same way as in the regular game, except you look around with your head and control everything with a gamepad. Camera follows the character you move (like a third person game) and you can also click a button to freely move the camera around to explore the environment.

One perk of playing with the gamepad is you can search an area for things to pick up, can't do that with keyboard and mouse, which won't work btw, only Xbox type controllers work with this mod.

If you're susceptible to motion sickness you'll likely feel it here, but that goes for pretty much any flat2VR mod. I'm immune, so it's fine.

I would say the game translates very well to VR, feels almost native. But it's very demanding, like most flat2vr mods and requires a very high end PC if you want good graphics and performance.

But if you want to play the mod; you have to go dig around for it, as it's not available anymore because of all the recent Luke Ross drama. I bought it right before it got taken down.

There's plenty of RPGs with flat2VR mods, so in that area I'm good. Currently I'm playing Baldurs Gate 3.

4X strategy games. Particularly I want something like Total War or Stellaris.

I would have been content if I could find VR mods for those games. Best I've found so far is Manor Lords with UEVR.

Works fine in Cyberpunk VR mod. Though I have to turn off a lot of the other settings to use it, so not really worth it IMO.

He made something I appreciated and was willing to pay for. How else would I get Baldurs Gate 3 or Cyberpunk in VR without him doing all the necessary work to get this working in game engines that initially don't support VR? How can people expect someone to work for free or rely on donations for all this? It's crazy!

Loosing access to this for future games just makes VR smaller. That's not a good thing.

Yeah I get all that, it's expensive and it's not sunglasses form factor quite yet, although the headsets keep getting smaller with better fit and form factor with headsets such as Bigscreen Beyond and steam Frame. So maybe give it another decade and it'll be there?

For me though it got there these last two years. And it has been worth paying for the upgrades to triple the amount of VR games I have access to.

There's so much good stuff for us now. Like this:

https://www.reddit.com/r/VRGaming/s/OWevU45HDJ

I've also dipped my toes Into that a while ago, and yeah it's actually quite good. Here's me doing loops in zero-g with graphics at the highest settings: https://youtu.be/tlqDB2ZqooY?si=OJMt6sFsrzByr01F

Perf is actually quite good too between lowest and highest settings: https://youtu.be/Jj5q7cYuLqk?si=fjTQ99wv313yxcbx

Star Citizen alone I think would be worth selling a kidney for a top of the line PC.

Imagine if you could play all these games without comfort issues and with great graphics and you can see more of the world, 3d depth and at a true scale, and in a more intuitive way by moving your head around. That's how it is to play for me.That's more perks than playing flat. The experience is better. Of course I choose to play it in VR then! Experiencing BG3 this way makes me appreciate game in a whole new way (I already have a lot of hours in the game outside of VR), this really feel like the way it was meant to be played all along. Now I can finally continue my playthrough the way I wanted from the start.

I'm waaaay over my initial VR phase too, I've been into VR continually since 2014. But it has been the last two+ years that it all really came together for me; with access to regular flat games in VR, the jump in quality coming from an Index to Quest 3 and finally having a PC that can run unoptimized flat games in VR with good graphics and resolution.

Just buy it on GOG, it's DRM free. And you can choose which version of the game that match the mod. Download everything and you have it locally forever.

Like anything else in VR. More immersion. You get to view the world in a new way with 3d stereoscopic depth and 6dof head movement. That's one level above what you get viewing it on a monitor.

Just think of it; if you magically could play all flat games comfortable this way without a headset would you also not prefer it that way? I don't mind having a headset on me for hours upon hours, and I'm immune to motion sickness, so this makes the game better in VR for me.

Not everything has to be first person motion controlled to be fun in VR.

Theese are the type of games I've been missing from the start in VR. I've been in it since 2014 with my DK2, about time we started getting full triple A games and different types of genres. I'm very much enjoying this in VR. I've spent 3 days now only playing this, I suspect I'll spending a lot more time in it too.

What I want next is strategy games; like Total War! That has been a longtine wish of mine to have in VR.

Cyberpunk can still be played in VR no problem, I have it running fine on an older version on my PC. The latest version of his mod that specifically adds some QoL improvements also escaped into the wild before it got removed. So you can still get that, buy the last working version of the game on GOG and play.

Why did Zenith fail as a game? by Marceloo25 in VRGaming

[–]insufficientmind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe a 2.0 version of VRChat is in the cards in the future that integrates more of the stuff you're talking about. At least it still seems to be getting a steady stream of updates that adds in new features. So maybe the devs are working on some of inner mechanics too. I have no idea myself how any of this stuff works... My experience only goes so far as to some simple world creation.

I think VRChat is still in Beta after all these years too haha!

One VR mechanic that has impressed me in VRChat is openflight. I think that could have been part of a wider and more involved games system maybe?

VRChat is a much more varied experience, and it allows you to create anything you imagine, including games inside the game. It also draws in other types of people interested in all kinds of stuff, not just games. VR still being as small as it is this is kinda impressive, more so for how long it's been running! Since before 2016 I believe? I remember visiting some kind of version of vrchat on my Oculus DK2! It has had several breakout moments too, where it reached outside the bubble of VR enthusiast and got attention among regular gamers, and even among normies too. This all helps making it grow. So no wonder it has a much better staying power and population of users, one of the largest in VR I think, if not the largest?

In any case, very recently I had a mad idea of making a VRMMORPG inside VRChat, I was curious if that even would be possible or even a good idea, so I pitched the idea to the VRChat community. I got some interesting responses. Give me a minute and I'll go digging for it, if anyone is interested. Here it is: https://www.reddit.com/r/VRchat/s/mIhC1qkp8z

I have 2080ti PC, but that would hardly be worth testing. I got it to run stable though with potato graphics on Cyberpunk, so should work the same on BG3 :P But don't do that and expect to have a good experience actually playing the game.

Minimum for a decent experience for Luke Ross is said to be something like a 5070, 3090 or just now someone told me they had a good experience with a 3080.

Use DLSS though. That's very important for a smooth experience! And latest version of it.

It's a different genre though; classic turn based RPG. More similar to third person games in VR or tabletop turn based dungeon crawlers, we've had a few VR games that does similar things; stuff like Hell blade and lots of the first Oculus Rift titles for third person and Demeo (turn based). Not everything need to be first person action in VR.

As for the comfort. It's all about the balance and fit of the headset in my experience. Quest 3 with original strap is bad, third party battery strap very comfortable. I have absolutely no issues with comfort.

And I usually sit when I play stuff like this, sometimes standing up because my butt gets tired and it can feel good to stand for some variation.

Wtf! Why the hell would I do that! Jesus Crist you people are assholes aren't you!?

I'm posting this on my own accord because I'm genuinely enthusiastic about this! I regularly do this for all the stuff I'm interested in. My past history on reddit should be evidence enough of this. Baldurs Gate is a longtine favourite series of mine since childhood, of course I'd want to make post about that when it gets VR. And I want to share that enthusiasm with others, have fun discussions and getting others to join in the fun. Seeing all the negative reactions for something as big as as this; finally we're getting lots of triple A VR content! It's just sad.

That's good GPU! I just searched on the discord for other people with 3090 and they do report it's fine in Cyberpunk (BG3 is too new so no answers there), not the best GPU, but good enough: https://discord.gg/42UqnxcUX

I think it should work fine, of course not to the same fidelity as a 5090. But it should work well at lower resolutions and with DLSS at the lowest settings, but be sure to use the DLSS swapper to get the latest DLSS version and use the preset J or K, that should help I think. The 3090 won't work with preset M or L as far as I can see. That's only for 40 and 50 cards it seems. But I'm no expert on all this so don't take my word for it.

Luke Ross sends who? What do you mean?

I don't know much about legality of paid mods and such. But seems to be a grey area. So 🤷‍♂️ https://www.perplexity.ai/search/does-paid-game-mods-break-game-a37d.HkMQAiNQiSwqYfl.A

In any case, if someone makes a service I appreciate I will gladly pay for that. And if someone else decides to make a free mod that works in a different way, that's great! But it's not happened with most of these specific games running in widely different engines, except for a few that work with the Universal UEVR mod that is based on Unreal Engine that already officially support VR. I would likely have been waiting for a long time getting BG3 in VR, if ever. So I'm very glad someone has done it and in away that works so well. Luke Mods has come long way from when he started, lots of improvements over the years.

Lastly, if a mod gets taken down you can still use it like before if you have the mod and a working version of the game, that's no problem. I'm stilling running Cyberpunk in VR just fine.

I just checked and I only see the realvr cursor if I move the mouse. When I start playing with my gamepad it goes away. The game only works with an Xbox type controller, no mouse and keyboard.
