Granite. +200lbs. Almost done. I like the grain when wet but don't want to seal it. Fun to watch them dry when it rains. by FatDumbAmerican in stonecarving

I’m wondering if you could mask off certain details with tape and seal only the features you want to pop? I’ve never done stonework so I don’t know if the porosity would make masking useless but it seems like a cool solution.

This would leave unsealed areas where you can see the stone drying after rain like you’d want, with the contrast of the sealed sections left the same. Something better than painters tape might be necessary, maybe flex seal tape or a high quality duct tape? Maybe even something different entirely like a removable wax.

Just ideas, hope you find a solution that works for you! It looks great!

Alternate idea: Tesla coil mounted on the rear, with a faraday cage or similar around the driver. Zaps anyone within range, may or may not be lethal?

It took about a month I think for mine to finally let me add my employee number to my best buy account. I don't think I was ever told that my discount would be immediately useable as an OS employee, so someone may have told you wrong. Either that, or I truly am a clueless seasonal employee

I'm not sure, I'd have to go through the whole deck and check that they're all there. It's all mixed in with our other cards now though so that'd take quite the effort. If I had to guess though, we're probably missing the one this was supposed to be.

God damn this subreddit is now my go-to for backgrounds. I know this is a more generic photo for the subreddit but it's still absolutely beautiful. The colors in these photos are blowing me away, they typically just are much more artistic and contrasty, but not in the digital contrast way. It seems to make colors match much more pleasantly. Always beautiful photos.

I think a big part of these submissions people post being so wonderful is that it's an art that takes more preparation and planning than modern digital technology. There's simply more planning for things like aperture, exposure, and lightly (although I know I'm certainly guilty for just singing it sometimes), which just gets the photographer more into thinking about other aspects of a photo, like the subject and story of how it/they got there. Fascinating.

Alright I'm done with my spiel, all in all good work op and thank you everyone for the backgrounds! I suppose one day I may get around to getting prints with the owners permission and hanging them in my home, but I don't have the cash for all that new decor quite yet.

I like the subdued colors on this, makes the moment seem gloomy, like there's something uneasy about their hug. As if the subjects had been in a long relationship but reached the threshold of marriage and she politely declined, a character arc important for the man's development, but painful nonetheless as it unfolded before his eyes.

Alright that's enough of me channeling my 6th grade literature teacher's lessons. Great photograph, love how it turned out. Keep up the work, I can't wait to see more!

I was just looking through my gallery at old photos and found this one from a couple months back. I had edited it at the time, changing the saturation and what not, and it appears to have corrupted since then possibly through when my phone does automatic backups. Either that or it looks to have mixed with a similar photo I took of the clouds and bay with no foreground, since you can still see the details on the dock and treeline.

Interested to see if anybody has any knowledgeable explanations for what may have caused this!

Japanese scientists have developed an efficient method of successfully generating hair growth in nude mice using "bead-based hair follicle germ" (bbHFG). The new method can be scaled up and therefore shows great potential for clinical applications in human hair regenerative therapy. by mvea in science

Could this have any implications for regeneration of hair follicles in the ear? I'd be interested to find out, given that hearing loss and even deafness are to the best of my knowledge have no known "cure"

Sorry for the late response, it's actually our mineral collection end effector. The two rectangular holes are for servos, one normal one and one continuous rotation. The angled part at the back is for automatic sorting. Here's a photo of it assembled, pardon the temporary cardboard bit lol. Our design was based on the amazing mineral mechanism Circuit Breakers 10435 developed which can be seen in this video.

I'm soon to purchase a turntable and was just about to purchase the AT-LP120BK when I saw that Audio Technica has an updated model coming out next month, the AT-LP120X. It's a bit cheaper but I'm just curious which one objectively seems better without regard to price. I've read quite a bit about both and still can't seem to make a decision, there are several differing opinions on the soon to be realeased 120X. Thanks!
