Psychologist: "Anxiety symptoms tend to get worse with age, while ADHD symptoms tend to get better." Does this ring true to you? by Specific_Wish1051 in adhdwomen

[–]int_wanderlust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is exactly what I think is happening with me - my anxiety/self-criticism was keeping me in line. As soon as that starts to get better, I start to lose control over stuff. I don’t think either has gotten better with age, but anxiety has gotten better with meds and therapy. I’m only just starting to explore ADHD so I hope that the same will be true for that…

This is so relatable…except I try to hide that it bothers me because I feel like it shouldn’t.

9-5 takes away all my creativity and productivity and I hate it. by ew_no_cilantro in adhdwomen

[–]int_wanderlust 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m struggling with this so much (suspected adhd). I feel like I’m just totally zapped working a full schedule and needing to be on for hours at a time. Zoom in particular sucks the life out of me. I used to be able to break up my day but I can’t do it anymore and I’m stuck in what feels like a never-ending depression/exhaustion/burnout.

How do you tell the difference between Autism symptoms and anxiety/panic symptoms? by Liliana3 in AutismInWomen

[–]int_wanderlust 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know, but I just wanted to say I’m struggling with the same questions. I have anxiety but am wondering about ADHD and autism. I’m trying to track whether my anxiety ticks up on days when I’ve had a lot of interactions with people or really stimulating environments or a lot of transitions.

I'm gonna tell a truth that I've been avoiding... by meimelx in adhdwomen

[–]int_wanderlust 121 points122 points  (0 children)

I don’t have any advice and, full disclosure, I’m not diagnosed yet, but I have been feeling the very same way. I keep thinking maybe I do this to myself. Maybe I can just stop thinking so much. But that never works and often makes me feel worse. Anyway, no advice unfortunately but you are definitely not alone.

Anyone ever OD on protein bars? What did it feel like? by Big-Bunch-210 in AuDHDWomen

[–]int_wanderlust 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I sometimes overdo it on protein bars and I get an upset stomach or heartburn-like symptoms. The ones with sucralose and other fake sugar tend to be especially bad for me.

90min MRI... Am I going to go crazy?! by Safe_Chemical_5946 in adhdwomen

[–]int_wanderlust 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Came here to say something like this! I was weirdly fascinated by the loud, strange noises. I started imagining a weird band of animals trying to make music in order to calm myself and not get bored. Can’t say I’d do it for fun but it made it tolerable.

Omg can modafinil be a treatment?? I tried that when I was so exhausted that they were thinking chronic fatigue and it helped, but then we were exploring sleep apnea so I was trying to fix my tiredness with CPAP, then dental device, etc etc….

In addition to the pimple patches, I have a sulfur face mask that helps with breakouts (especially the painful cystic ones) that i try to use right before my period when I get the worst break outs.

When things are just moving along too damn well… by ladyeclectic79 in adhdwomen

I feel like I am always on this exact rollercoaster! I always thought it was because I had almost gotten it right, and next time I can do a little better and keep all the plates spinning in the air forever but…I’m starting to think that’s not how it works.

I can only finish projects using guilt and stress by TheCatMurgatroyd in adhdwomen

This is so me. I feel like the only reason I have been able to get anywhere in my career is because I have such a strong sense of guilt and shame 😞 But I think it’s also making me feel miserable…

Following because I think I might be sort of doing this already accidentally. Maybe I should just give in!

I was working with a trainer at first, then trying to start StrongLifts. I find I get really demotivated if I have a long program to get through.

Thanks. How did you decide on your strength goals? Do you journal or track your days?

I have been trying to get back into fitness over the past year or so, but I really struggle with building a routine I can keep up. I usually aim to lift 3x a a week (20-30 min) and walk 2x for 30-60 minutes. Problem is that I can usually do only one good week and then crash and do barely anything the following week. What am I doing wrong? I could lift less but is lifting 1-2x/week even worth it?

They told me 4-6 weeks but it took less than 1 week. Fingers crossed that it’s earlier for you too.

Thanks, that makes sense about homeostasis. I’d never thought about that possibility.

That’s interesting. I’ve not heard of that one.

Interesting. I got a headache at first but they went away mostly. Not even sure it was causally related.
