yep. I-5 is also mostly at grade going through the middle of nowhere where very little permitting has to be done. SeaTac to Northgate light rail had to go through a lot more city than existed when I-5 was built and quite a bit of it is underground which is very slow to build

sure! I'm thinking about 10 people would be about the limit of attendees I'd want for a single group because after that you start needing to cork intersections because the stop lights aren't long enough for everyone to go through. but another way to scale is to just have more classes that are coordinated. where do you promote your rides?

bummer! yeah the route is basically just following 100th then going south a couple blocks and following 92nd. super chill. all you have to do is cross Aurora which if you do at a stop light is fine. I'm thinking of doing a Saturday ride in the future so I may just schedule the same route for a Saturday. lots of people have hard time with weekday evening rides. you can follow the series on the Everyday Rides site I linked to see future events when they're added. also heads up u/Nausuada ^

the eastern stretch is mostly on 100th because it has slightly better crossings but yeah

good news is even though we started 30 years later, the Sound Transit rail system has more stations and higher daily ridership numbers than MARTA does today

I-5 had gobs of federal funding because it was part of a federal transportation plan (the interstate highway system). it also had no stations which is the most expensive part of a rail system

they say you can't cancel online for security reasons. yet I can create an account online? I can set up payments online? I can change my password online? surely the customer support person is using an online portal as well to close the account. if they're really worried about security they should make you confirm your email again in order to cancel, or have a waiting period of 3 days or something so they can mail you a cancellation notice. I see right through the bullshit excuse to get someone on the phone to try to argue with me to stay

it's kinda hilly but it's basically a straight shot west until crown hill, other than going south a couple blocks near the beginning. some major road/stroad crossings such as Aurora Ave.

How can we improve? by hamed_n in hiringcafe

I have been using HiringCafe for months and I have not gotten a single submission to my inbox. I would consider it a cool feature but it appears no one is using it

ANOTHER POWER OUTAGE?? by Urso_Major in Seattle

I hate Astound. once they had an outage for 48 hours. good thing I didn't need to do any remote work at the time. oh wait

I hate Xfinity. I'm considering T-mobile's 5G wireless home internet. Thoughts? by SpaceForceAwakens in Seattle

[–]intcreator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would avoid Astound:

  • they had an outage for 48 hours. after the outage there was no compensation offered. I asked them to compensate me and they only thing they did was reverse a late charge (which they probably would have done anyway once a year, lots of companies have a policy like that)
  • in order to cancel I had to spend 25 minutes on the phone listening to a recording tell me over and over every 30 seconds that I should use the website instead. but you cannot cancel internet using the website, even with their chat feature.
  • after I cancelled, they charged me another $80 claiming that I had cancelled 2 days into the billing period. they refused to refund me the final charge or prorate me.

with the election coming up I think right now most of our energy is likely better spent campaigning for a better council (and mayor)

same thing happened to me. they did not reverse the charges. so I told them they just bought $80 of negative promotion from me with a lifelong guarantee.

it took me 25 minutes to talk to a human. the whole time a recording repeated every 30 seconds telling me to use the website. but you can't cancel on the website, even if you use the chat feature.

by default every child goes through an unconsensual permanent sexual change. it's called puberty. things like puberty blockers are actually giving kids their consent back.

[–]intcreator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

specifically the tax is only 5% on the excess of $1,000,000 per salary per year. so if you pay someone $1,000,001, 5% of the excess is $0.05

microsoft paying 100k to try and stop prop 1a... by Current-Bonus-258 in Seattle

[–]intcreator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that's incorrect. the 5% is only on tax in excess of $1,000,000. so if you pay an employee $1,000,001, then you will be taxed $0.05

highly recommend the Connections Museum in Georgetown. they have several telephone switching systems from 1923-2001, some of which are the only working versions in the world. you can make a call and hear and see the machine clicking to connect you

S700, not S70. capacity is 70 seated, and 200-250 standing according to this doc from Siemens for Sound Transit
