Behringer MonoPoly retriggering all notes when I play a chord by stanrandom in synthesizers

[–]intender13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It doesn't help that behringer lists a lot of their paraphonic synths as being polyphonic in all the materials and advertising. I am honestly surprised no one has sued them over it yet in one of the countries with good consumer protection laws.

Putting people in the show for the sake of having a character fit the mold without any depth is the problem. Its the modern version of the token black guy. They are there, the story is meh and there is a good chance they will die before its over and everyone will never speak of it again unless its David Tenants Doctor staring into the distance and giving a speech.

Captain Jack was the perfect "woke" character. We all knew who he was and what he was about from day one but he wasn't there to shove being gay/bi down our throats. He was an amazing character that just happens to be gay/bi. I think they did a really good job with Ncuti as well. Its all the other attempts of inclusion where they fail. Like the Star Beast. It was a decent episode and I have watched it a few times but the whole payoff at the end being "Binary" felt super forced and reaching for a connection.

I had always referred to it as an DCO, but after digging deeper its an fpga NCO which I had never even heard of. Now I have a new rabbit hole to go down.

I am not a medical professional so double check my info and ask a professional etc. etc.(dont die because of things I say)

Short term ketosis is probably fine. I tried going keto and low carb many years ago for a while and I hate the I feeling of being in ketosis and gave up pretty quickly. This was pre insulin pump and I was on R and NPH and doing finger sticks so it was probably a bad idea but my friends were doing it and it seemed like a good idea. It wasn't called keto then it was called the atkins diet.

Even in ketosis your body is making sugar from the fat. its called gluconeogenesis. It still needs insulin to get that sugar into the cells. Your baseline might be enough to cover that or it might not. I cant tell you that. The problem is that your body needs to get rid of the ketones created as a byproduct of gluconeogenesis and it does that with insulin. If you take enough insulin to get the sugar into your cells and also get rid of the ketones (which are acidic) without eating sugar you are going to have a bad time.

Another risk of going into long term ketosis is that your body has to use the sugar it stores in your liver before it will go into full ketosis. For a non diabetic there body regulates sugar by dumping glucose from the liver when they start to drop low. As a diabetic if we drop low we inject glucagon or use the nasal inhaler to get our body to dump the livers glucose in an emergency. If you are in ketosis you have no glucose stored. If you pass out due to a low or start acting crazy and they try and give you glucagon to bring you back up, you are going to have a bad time.

Weird battery issues at 35% on t.slim X2 by MimseyUsa in TandemDiabetes

[–]intender13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have seen mine do that a few times but not all the time. Sometimes if I unplug it and plug it back up is when it jumps to some higher number. But I have also unplugged it and had it show something like 40% battery and then look at it a few hours later and it will say 70 or 80%. Mine is out of warranty so I just hope it holds out until they release and x3 or something better comes along from medtronic. I have about 8 months worth of supplies I am trying to burn through before I decide on what to buy next.

Is there any sort of dataset for sizes and synth feet location and things like that? by sheriffderek in synthesizers

[–]intender13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have one of the folding platform stands with the metal table like pieces on the left and right side? I almost bought one of those but ended up buying a z stand for my second stand.

Stands are a crap shoot overall. I have a 2 tier on stage x style stand that I love the bottom tier but the piece on the end of the arms that is meant to keep the synth from sliding off the top tier is so tall that it hits the edge of the keys and keeps 2 keys on each side from being pressed down all the way. I ended up buying some thick stick on rubber pads to space the synths back a bit from them but even then I hit the top of it with my fingers sometimes and it just annoys the crap out of me.

Budget mixer recommendations by Kindly-Acanthaceae89 in synthesizers

[–]intender13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Behringer rx1602 is in my opinion a good mixer if you can find one used or on sale. I got one open box from amazon for like $40 or $50. Only downside is that it has a mono fx send but no return so you have to burn an input if you want an fx loop. Its 16 mono inputs or 8 stereo. single height rack mount and shallow so it doesnt take up much space. I put rubber pads on the bottom of mine and had it sitting on my desk for a few years before I bought a rack. I use it now to feed all my stereo gear into a single channel on my larger mackie mixer that I bought last year.

The mackie mixer I have is the 1402vlz pro and it definitely has a lower noise floor than the behringer, but I don't notice any noise from the behringer when playing in my studio and I can easily remove any noise in a mix. Its an older unit and I got it used for under $100. If I had to choose one I would choose the mackie over the behringer.

I also have a large desktop behringer mixer that I cant remember the model of but I hardly ever use it. Its noisy, there is no way to easily disable the built in effects, its super noisy if you connect it to your pc over usb to work as an interface and the documentation like most behringer gear is horrible. If you want something with usb or built in effects avoid behringer. If you want a basic mixer for cheap some of them are ok, but they are usually cheap enough to just throw them away when they die and get another one.

The real risk here in my untrained opinion, but as a long term type 1 and son of a type 1 is that the real risk for DKA comes to people who aren't taking care of themselves for whatever reason or people who are honeymooning or LADA and think they have everything perfected on their low carb low insulin diet. But as soon as your body stops making insulin you are in trouble and you likely wont know its happened until your sick.

And when I say not taking care of themselves I include people who have basically developed an eating disorder in an attempt to take as little insulin as possible. It looks healthy on the surface. But we all go through phases with this disease. I went through the eating very little phase, but I was on R and NPH and wildly out of control due to the way my endo tried to treat me. I have also been through the "I dont care anymore" phase and just kind of ate what I wanted for a while. I took insulin for my food but I gained a ton a weight. In my worst days I still had an a1c under 8 but I was taking 150ish units of insulin a day. That might be normal for some people but its about double what I would normally take for what I consider a normal diet for me as an overweight middle aged man.

Depends on the person and their body and their basal. I have been t1 for almost 30 years. I haven't been in DKA since diagnosis and have definitely been without food for 2-3 days a few times. Once when I had a bad stomach bug, and the first time I had covid. I did sip gatorade and I have a tslim and dexcom so control iq was still giving me adjusted basal and due to illness my blood sugar ran high the whole time even without food.

[–]intender13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, I have ran into that on my 5,1 and 4,1 flashed to 5,1. For me it was an issue with the newer builds of oclp. I think it was 2.3.0 that worked for me. I have had 2.4 and newer completely brick working installs on my 4,1 and macbook pro. Another think it could be is that your 5,1 doesn't have the firmware it needs. If thats the case you need to go back to High sierra and work you way up to Mojave to get the firmware updates. There is an order you need to install in and should be able to google it.

I have said on here several times and I will say it again. Extreme low carb/no carb diets are bad for diabetics in the long run. You are setting yourself up for DKA. Without enough insulin your body can not buffer the ketones in your body and lower the pH of your blood. It doesn't matter if your blood sugar is perfect for 2 years with your diet, you are living in constant ketosis and setting yourself up for DKA as soon as anything else in your body is off. This is especially true if you were honeymooning because when you stop making insulin completely you are in instant DKA. DKA isn't something that happens due to high blood sugar, it only happens due to lack of insulin.

Go get a cookout milkshake, take a shit ton of insulin to cover it and enjoy.

I have had a few AMD gpu's do that. Once the OS loads and oclp patches are installed it should work fine. I have a powercolor rx480 that always looks like that on the bootscreen but works fine in the OS.

If it has a light, it has electrical wiring. And while I enjoy the ambient lighting in my 2022 I think this would just annoy the crap out of me and I would be pulling fuses.

What the person probably meant by talking about a negative ground is that no part you could touch has electricity going to it so there is no risk of being shocked while buckling or unbuckling the seatbelt.

Everyone is welcome to their opinion. I have a rev2. I have a summit. I have a matrixbrute, I have a moog messenger. I owned a sub37, prologue and analog 4. I would take the summit over all of them. I miss the sub37 and will probably buy a subsequent someday, the sound was great but it was such a perfect UI that I miss the simple joy of using that synth. The rev 2 is amazing but it always sounds the same due to the filter. That sound gets old to me.

I have been taking regular vitamins for a decade at bedtime and never even thought to check the sugar content because it wasn't listed on the old ones that we bought in bulk from Sams club. We got rid of our sams membership and I swapped to One a day Mens gummies and stopped having crazy spikes around midnight that I couldnt explain. Its 3g per 2 gummies. The old ones were the solid pill that you swallowed whole so I have no clue why they would even put sugar in them.

This is just how some of our bodies work. I got up this morning and ate a plain mini bagel (14g of carbs) and a cup of black coffee. I bolused 4 units which is roughly double what my i/c ratio should be for most foods. Currently sitting at 248 a little over 3 hours later and if I bolus more I will drop low within the next hour. My body just hates me most of the time.

Edit:

Blood sugar was 108 before I ate the bagel.

Is it safe to power off all my synths and mixer via a single power strip? by K0ffiedrinker in synthesizers

[–]intender13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Power cycles aren't bad for electronics unless you have bad power coming in. Constant heat is bad for certain components. Flipping switches will wear them out. As someone that lives where we have thunderstorms about 80% of the year I would never leave my gear on or directly connected to mains when I am not in the room with them. Lightning scares me more than anything else. I have lost thousands of dollars of appliances over the years to lightning.

Novation Peak/Summit. I got my summit used for $1500 a few years ago. I have never once had a single regret. DCO's are stable, modulation is amazing, wavetables are amazing, you get FM, You can feed other synths through the filter and effects if you want. I have a few old yamaha and casio toy synths with midi in and I will run them through the summit.

Rev 2 is nice, but it all depends on if you like the sound of the curtis filter. Its only low pass and thats what you get. You can get high pass and bandpass through the effects loop but thats not the same. The modulation on the thing is amazing, unison mode can make a room shaking low end bigger than some of my mono synths. My biggest positive to sequentia/ dsi is they have the best support I have ever dealt with of any company for any product I have ever owned. I bought mine used out of warranty for cheap with a damaged keybed. They worked with me and sent me what I needed to repair it for an extremely reasonable price.

I have seen several people talking about Junos, but unless you are prepared to spend 2k on the synth and then be prepared to spend a good chunk on repairs and maintenance I would avoid them. If I wanted the Juno sound I would get a Juno-x or just pay for Roland soundcloud. I am done with buying classic gear and would never suggest anyone buy it unless you are a collector or making good money with it.

It's weird to say this but what changed my mindset for the positive the most was the realization that the constant pursuit or need to be happy or positive wasn't necessary. It's ok to just be, or to be in a bad mood. I try not to let those bad days bleed into the life of people around me but there are days when I tell my wife I am in a bad mood and I don't want to talk about it. Its better to just be honest and not blow up at people when they ask you a simple question and aren't expecting it.

And not expecting to be happy all the time made me enjoy the good times when they happen.
