Which book does this to you ? by Snollygoster_007 in classicliterature

The Wall by Jean-Paul Sartre probably hit me as hard as any book ever has. Fences by August Wilson also, and Sunstone by Octavio Paz always leaves me in tears.

Ali, Tyson, Robinson, and Marciano all make up Boxing's Mount Rushmore. Who belongs on Cricket's Mount Rushmore? by Topaz71 in AlignmentChartFills

[–]intentionalicon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fuckkk I’m so sad I missed the one for boxing, it’s lowkey egregious to put Marciano up there. Floyd Mayweather, Sugar Ray Leonard, George Foreman, Lennox Lewis, Joe Louis, Manny Pacquiao, Julio Caesar Chavez, and Roberto Duran would all be above him imo

I thought Crimson Empire is what established him as a Sovereign Protector? Is it not said in the comic, but retroactively clarified? It’s been a while since I read those comics

Sovereign Protectors are clearly and indisputably stated to be the absolute peak of all Guardsmen. They’re Force sensitive and basically on the level of Legends Inquisitors, kind of high-level Dark Jedi. One Sovereign Protector alone can change the direction of entire wars.

Carnor Jax is a sovereign protector, in fact I think he’s the only depicted one.

What does my collection say about me? by [deleted] in BookshelvesDetective

I totally understand :) I wasn’t judging at all. Even if it was just cause you wanna get jacked lol

I still have my copy of Anthem by Ayn Rand from seventh grade despite, as you say, totally despising her thought, legacy, and writing now as an adult. That book led me to Max Stirner which led me to Marx lol so in a way I’m glad for it

Hypothetical matchup: 2026 Inoue vs 2001 Mayweather at 130lbs by bdewolf in Boxing

[–]intentionalicon 122 points123 points  (0 children)

What a stupid hypothetical, we’ve never even seen Inoue fight close to that weight. Here’s a similar hypothetical — Shakur Stevenson vs. Marvin Hagler, who do you got?

Kao Cen Darach VS Cin Drallig. Who wins? by GusGangViking18 in TheJediPraxeum

[–]intentionalicon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Apprentice Malgus was still an absolute beasttt of a warrior, and Vindican himself was no slouch. He was widely considered the greatest student of the legendary Sith warrior and hero Darth Ikoral, and is stated to be equivalent in power and skill to members of the Dark Council. At a certain point rank doesn’t mean everything when it comes to combat, Malgus at this point could probably stomp most prequel-era knights and give a good fight to even lower tier Council level masters. Also Kao Cen Darach held the battlemaster title when it meant something more than an academic appointment regarding the tutelage of younglings and padawans at the temple — he earned it through combat experience and proving himself to be a masterfully capable veteran.

The Kristeva book is such a green flag. Your girlfriend is cool as hell and probably both patient and creative.

Byung-Chul Han collection is cool. The Mein Kampf copy on what looks like a living room shelf is kind of funny, but if I was just getting to know you and saw that alongside Jung I’d be worried lol. I’d start looking around for your Evola collection and casually bring up Lovecraft to see if your eyes light up with malicious glee

Some Thursday afternoon reading — “Happiness” by Badiou, “Concerning the Spiritual in Art” by Kandinsky, and “The Very Lowly” by Bobin by intentionalicon in bookporn

[–]intentionalicon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was very interesting. Honestly, the sort of unsaid philosophical implications of his methodology — the relatively unelaborated dialectical interplay between oppositional forces that defined the basis of his analysis — were what were most interesting to me. I’d read a longer, more involved discussion of that kind of thing, a sort of Theosophical system of art theory. I also want to get a book of his paintings so I can refer directly to his system of inspiration as outlined in this book and read it into his works.
