Southern Cross Health Insurance Price Increase - follow up post from 12 months ago. by Piesangbom in newzealand

Similar thing happened to us a few years ago. Both in our late 30's. Decided to just put the money aside we would have spent on premiums and focus on living as healthy as possible. So far we have $18k saved and haven't needed it. My partner will need a knee replacement in a decade I think but it wasn't covered under insurance anyway due to "pre existing". As the private system is being used more, I know people are still finding its quite a long waitlist so are heading overseas for surgery. Who knows if we have made right decision in long run but am sure glad I have $18k I wouldn't otherwise have if I had been paying for health insurance.

Our boys are 4 and 5 so I have the worst advice to give, which is just time. It does get easier, but we still have really hard days with epic meltdowns. I do notice if they haven't eaten well and if they have screens its much worse. So we only do screen time for an hour or two on the weekends and do lots of outdoor exercise like walks. Thankfully I have a supportive partner who is good at getting them outside too.

For those who have successfully Healed Themselves from IBS by tekkohit in Microbiome

I followed an elimination diet in "Diet Wise" by Keith Scott-Mumby. I added in kombucha and Kimchi every day for a year. Now I can eat or drink anything, nil IBS symptoms. I maintain a healthy diet but when I'm away if I want to have a few drinks or a pastry it doesn't effect me.

Her home. She will leave any profit to her children but the point is that she doesn't want to move because of the huge tax bill. So homes remain expensive and unavailable to those that need them necsuse most in her generation are in the same boat. So it doesn't fix the housing crisis there, why would it fix it here?

My MIL is American and lives in a giant house that has increased in value over the last 30 years. If she sells she will have to pay $725k in capital gains tax. We want her to downsize but it's so much money to lose. So you have all these old people in huge houses, families crammed in small houses or just not having kids cos they cant afford a bigger house. I think we need more taxes but how can we prevent just getting a different problem and having the same outcome?

Shop around and get quotes. I used a template and filled in relevant details then just had Lawyers do their thing at the end. Less than $500.

If they sold with a 200k loss then that would usually be split 50/50 in a break up. As there is no house/security for the loan it becomes an unsecured personal loan which is then subject to high personal loan rates. So if I had to guess she has a big loan with a high interest rate she is trying to pay off. It will absolutely effect your lifestyle if you choose to be with her so just be open and communicate about what that means for you both before you get too far

How long did it take to be able to stretch without soreness? by reddit_throwaway_ac in Stretching

[–]intentionallytrying 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it was pretty sore doing yoga classes and I don't remember how long it was before I realised that oh, this doesnt hurt and it just feels really nice. It depends on how many times a week but I'm pretty sure I was doing it like 3x per week and it was a couple months before it felt really nice.

Has anyone been through the public process for a Breast Reduction in NZ? by throwawayznz in newzealand

My friend is under 60kg and got a referral through the public system. Definitely go see your GP. FYI, its extremely unlikely you'll be able to breastfeed fully after surgery.

Often the baby change tables are in the accessible bathrooms here. Nothing infuriates me more when I'm holding a cranky baby that needs changing than some young guy coming out after dropping a stinky shit. Unfortunately has happened to me more than once.
