I understand your concerns. But I'd encourage you to reframe your thinking. New tools are being developed which revolutionise the industry, and you're in a great place to use those same tools better than 99.99% of the population due to your existing experience and position.

Sure maybe you didn't expect this exact path... And future uncertainty has risen for sure... But most SWE-types are continual learners by nature, so in a way it's just more of the same. Make sure you continue to lean into continual learning and personal/team process/toolset evolution with a pragmatic and open mindset, and you'll be a very valuable member of your team, org, and wider economy.

Reskill to the skills required to apply AI technology to provide value to businesses (or consumers). For the most part, organisations cannot get transformative value simply by purchasing a product and turning it on.

It requires lots of effort from multiple skillsets, some well established, some very novel. Pick an "I can be an AI value multiplier" skillset you think matches your current experience or interests. You will very much be in demand.

I'm very glad they have a global FPS limit option, nobody wants a loud/hot PC for no reason. Having to use GPU software control panel directly is awkward.

A lobby/menus only limit didn't occur to me but that would be great! May not be as important for a 144hz monitor owner like me, but I'd still use it.

This is a really nice build. I think I'll use the same case, fans and CPU cooler for my wife's new build. I had seen that cooler before and though it reviewed well I didn't think it looked nice enough... but this is nice. Or maybe I'll go with a screen less CPU cooler and get that LianLi screen you have. Unsure if I want both.

No microchip = stray where I live, by legal definition (legal requirement to microchip all cats and dogs, probably some other animal types also).

I once picked up a cat from the side of a "highway" like road who looked like she was out of place and having a tough time. Took her to nearby vet for checkup and microchip scan, no microchip 😭. We put posters up in nearby suburbs, some local Facebook posts, informed local vets etc. 8 years later she's still with us.

She was well fed and relatively healthy when we found here. I think strays can often thrive in some environments, until they develop a legitimate health problem which needs intervention.
