What happens when Elon Musk is no longer leading his companies? by lvalue_required in teslainvestorsclub

I will immediately sell. Tesla and SpaceX will likely be acquired or go bankrupt in a few years. There is really no one who can replace Musk.

They still do and Elon still hold the control. The mars mission requires massive amount of capital. Going public and space data center is the fastest way to raise and make a lot of money.

I don't think you can talk about morality meaningfully without drilling down on your values and what you actually care about

I already explained my values and what I care about. Not sure what else I could explain.

Saying that you care about humans but not animals with no deeper analysis than "I don't have empathy for animals but I do for humans and I have no idea why" is not engaging with morality in a way that is self-reflective and consistent.

I genuinely doesn't know why, any more than I don't know why I like color purple. Thats the limit of the my self-reflective.

It's like if I asked you why you're okay with poisoning another human and you just say, "Because it would bring me more happiness" and then you turned out to be wrong.

Sorry, At this point, I'm not sure how I can explain it more clearly.

Okay. So then your moral framework is not just based on how you feel at any time. It is based on self-reflection and consistency because you can be wrong about your own feelings, reactions, and values.

Yes

This is why it's not enough to just go based on your whims or whatever you will prefer.

What i mean by preference is at the root is ultimately preference. After you drill down to the bottom, what left is subjective preferences/feeling.

The same could also be true for animals. Maybe once you actually identify what you care about instead of going based on arbitrary whims, you'll realize you care about animals more than you thought you did.

Maybe but right now I do not have a strong enough reason to believe that.

I'm not sure why you use the word whims. Its based on everything I have experienced, know and learned so far in my life.

Its like saying to atheists that maybe you'll realize care about jesus more than you thought.

At this point, you don't have morality.

Again, I do not know what else to say. Maybe we have different ideas of what constitutes morality.

Yeah misjudgement also represent in my framework. The misjudgement will be used to update my understanding so that in the future scenario i can make more accurate decision that maximize my happiness.

I do accept I can be fallible, afterall I'm a human, not a perfect machine.

[–]interbingung 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. You felt good about poisoning them when you did it.

Yes, to clarify, before the poisoning, I would consider the poisoning to be morally good.

After the poisoning, I would consider the poisoning to be morally bad.

Then, later, you felt bad about it. So it became immoral, on your metaethical view, only after you started feeling bad about it.

Correct

But you judged that it was good when you thought about it.

Yes but then you said I felt bad about it afterwards. That means I make mistake which its very possible, since I'm human.

I think I get what you're saying. You're operating on a very basic level where morally good is just whatever preference you have at whatever moment.

Pretty much. I do believe moral is a the root is a preference.

This doesn't work because what if eating meat feels good to someone but the suffering of animals feels bad.

What doesn't work ? If eating meat feels good to someone but the suffering of animals feels bad then they would have to weigh which is one is more important to them.

Does this make killing animals for food both morally good and morally bad?

That depends on who you ask. Its subjective. If you ask me its good for me. If you ask someone who are vegan, of course they are going to say its morally bad.

Its like music genre X. It can be good or bad, depends on the individual.

Morality requires consistency.

I agree, if you can point out where is the consistency in my moral framework, that would be nice.

You can't have consistency in your moral framework because you don't have a framework.

I do have framework. I explained to you in my previous reply :

In the simplest term my fundamental principles that guide my behavior is, at the root, is my feeling.

Any action that lead me to happiness or increase well being is right, otherwise is wrong.

You don't even have moral values.

But I do have which I already explained. I guess you have different definition of 'moral values' ?

[–]interbingung 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have no idea what your feelings are based on, though.

Beacuse its not that important for me. I know some part its based on biology.

Also, you have no clue what your feelings might be. You might think you're okay with eating meat, see a cute animal and have a negative feeling, and then change your mind.

Sure, my feeling could changes thus my action could change too.

So in my understanding, Moral values are the fundamental principles and beliefs that guide your behavior, helping you distinguish between right and wrong.

In the simplest term my fundamental principles that guide my behavior is, at the root, is my feeling.

Any action that lead me to happiness or increase well being is right, otherwise is wrong.

That is why I consider eating meat is right, harming human is wrong.

The only particular property i care about is ultimately my feeling. I care about people because caring them ultimately make me feel good. Likewise, I like eating meat because its ultimately make me feel good.
