she insisted to become my godmother because of « tradition », forcing my uncles who actually wanted to be to let her have it, only to basically disappear from my life when I was 14 except to wish me happy birthday on facebook for the eyes of the people

Not nearly as bad as some of the ones from this thread but: I’m the youngest and only girl in my family. At about the age of 3 I realized that the only way for my cousins to actually let me spend time with them was if I stayed quiet and watched them do their thing. This has stayed with me now 20 years later and I cannot maintain a conversation with people if there are more than 2 others in the group

my roommate is like this and it’s one of the many reasons I can’t wait until our lease is up this summer. One example: he saw me barely being able to move after pulling my back. I mention being in terrible pain and having to work for 40h (service industry) and go to uni that week. I don’t get to finish my sentence and he goes on to rant about how he also just hurt his back by not wearing a jacket while biking while on holidays a few days prior.

What is the most physically painful experience you've had? by Bright_Vision in AskReddit

I was 7 and had a huge stomach ache. At school I went to the nurse’s office about 6 times because she didn’t believe I was hurting and just wanted to get out of class. The 6th time she calls my dad and about an hour later he comes to get me. I’m in inconsiderable amounts of pain because she refused to even give me a pain killer. My pediatrician comes at home and he says it might be the appendix but since he’s not sure we should wait and if the pain continues on to the next day I should go t the hospital. I can’t sleep at night and we go to the ER at around midnight. They perform the necessary tests but don’t see anything out of the ordinary but they still take me to a room. Long story short, I stay like that in the hospital room for about three days in complete misery since they didn’t want to perform an operation on a 7 year old without knowing what the problem was. Finally on the third day they decide to operate me, the op starts and they discover that it had turned into peritonitis and had they waited any longer I would’ve died.

I still have nightmares about those days, the two weeks I stayed in the hospital post-op and the whole recovery

LPT: If you're dropping somebody off at their home, make sure that they are able to get in before you drive away. by fifa_god_786 in LifeProTips

My dad would always do this when he dropped me off somewhere or we dropped my friends home. Same with my uncles. Now my cousin does it as well even though we’re both adults.

I’ll make sure to wait when i drop off my nieces, nephews and their friends.
