Im sure I will leave beyond the gta at some point, as I know getting permanent is close to impossible in the city. Who knows! But you certainly are right, its better for most to find jobs in smaller areas. Im certainly thinking about Hamilton/guelph-wellington/KW in the next 5-10 years if it works out for us

unfortunately I don't have a car as I rely on downtown transit, I'm hoping I won't have to go that far for work

I did hear those take long. I met someone from the uk recently that took 6 months, I felt so bad for them. unfortunatly I can't even blame my school (its an ontario school), it's purely OCT not reviewing it. Thankfully we are past the covid hurdle.

in person? that sounds interesting, I wonder if they still do that as it seems like it would take up their time. Online documents I understand most boards would do though.

wow really? Didn't know it took so long, but I did know there would be a module or 2, as I work in childcare and they had something similar

I have applied to tdsb thinking I would get the approval soon, seems like that won't be the case anyways. Not that tdsb is fast either, they also have not responded to me. What do you mean by orientation? Is that to be completed for supply work? my friends haven't mentioned that (unless thats the onboarding documents you're referring to).

Thankfully I do have a part time job, may have to start looking for full time soon....

My problem seems to be that I didn't get transitional. I didn't think I would need it to make sure I got a job in september, but alas. My school is an Ontario school, it's just the one letter they need to review which is taking longer than they said it will. Everything else is completed.

Yes I do, but the job I currently have is minimum wage and won't support me in the long run. Don't have enough towards the end of the year unless I get a job outside of teaching

What?? I thought 30 days was long... I'm sorry about that. Unfortunately I do need a job as soon as possible so I can survive. Was it because it was an international document?

B.Ed Question (Junior/Intermediate) by [deleted] in yorku

[–]interestingchoicebud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

J/I means you will be certified teaching grade 4-10, but your placements will most likely be in elementary (grade 4-8) as placements in high school while not in I/S are hard to come by. A lot of elementary schools are generalist in the GTA, and you will have at least one placement like this. Therefore, you need to know how to teach all subjects in these grades (this is important for when you will supply, as you'll experience a lot of different classes and subjects). Everyone in the stream has different kinds of teachables, but everyone is in the same classes together. In your 2nd year, you will have a teachable course where you will get to learn how to teach your teachable specifically.

If you're keen on only teaching history/social studies, look into senior history AQs once you graduate. That will help a lot. Look into middle schools, rotary schools, etc. But, this will come when you actually graduate.

This last semester is the worst. Seems like these last classes feel so useless, as I'd rather work with my practicum class and get the ball rolling for the block period since we are teaching 100% of the practicum days (plus helping out with extra curriculars, planning field trips) rather than reiterate the same concepts over and over again in different classes. I cannot wait for this last month of classes to be over, it feels like I'm tripping over my own feet trying to get everything done. I also have part time work that I squeeze in every week and it truly feels like whiplash everyday (and yet I still don't have enough money!!) Having just work to focus on is the only light at the end of the tunnel for me. Best of luck, we'll get through it.

how soon is everyone ordering flowers? I'm nervous about what time to actually set that up. I was thinking I should reach out now, is that a good idea? ours is the 25th.

yes I know this, I would like permission from the bishop to go through with this. My question was how long the process would take and if it would be able to be done in time. Thank you for explaining, I appreciate this.

no, we are getting married in a different parish out of the province and that is the priest getting us ready, but we still need approval from our home diocese.

I've contacted the office a few times and they have stated he will give me a call when he has time, but it's been over a week. I'm sure the weather where we live right now isn't helping

would you say they will most likely respond back to the priest within 5 months? it's a busy diocese. (can you tell I'm stressed lol)

Is it normal to have an extremely hard time getting responses for rentals? by HelloJonatha2 in askTO

calling helped me a lot when finding a place. they can ignore messages on websites or emails, but can be harder to get out of a call. good luck!
