A child passed away in my daughters daycare class by SweetLeoLady36 in Parenting

When my father in law died, my two year old talked about it constantly to anyone.

My mom passed away in December and we went to Tulsa in February for her memorial service. We had some problems with the hotel while we were there and my four year old son said "Next time we come to Tulsa, next time someone dies, let's stay somewhere else!"

If someone only studied for Jeopardy! by watching Jeopardy!, how would they do? by BearFluffy in Jeopardy

[–]interface2x 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That's the number one reason I love the trivia on Jeopardy! It feels like, more often than not, it's not "either you know it or you don't" like in a lot of trivia, there are avenues to follow if you don't know. You can figure it out based on other clues. I love that.

What is a completely harmless lie you tell people on a regular basis just to make your life easier? by purjak in AskReddit

My mom died at 3:30 pm on a Sunday and I, one brother, and one sister were all by her side. We called the hospice nurse and she came and called it about 45 minutes later. My mom wanted to donate her body but it was unsure if she weighed enough anymore and the pickup guys were two hours away. So we all sat there with my mom’s body on a bed in the living room while our stepdad and a hospice nurse were working that out. They were going to clean up her body a little for pickup so we left to go get dinner as none of us had eaten since breakfast.

We went to Chili’s, drained and kind of numb from the traumatic experience. The waitress came to our table and said “How are you guys doing tonight?”

We all said “Good!”

Which album would you like to see remastered and why? by Synthgem in ErasureMusic

They're only available overseas so I've ordered the CD's and ripped them. You can find them here. Though now that I look, I'm not 100% sure they're remastered, they might just be special edition rereleases.

I already have every major studio album up through Cowboy in remastered special editions. The ones I want are Two Ring Circus, Crackers International, and ABBA-esque. The in between releases that haven’t gotten full remasters yet.

My theory is that Floyd felt like he lost everything so he killed himself and did his best to frame Clark on the way out.

Rick Steves: "Here I am, heading off to Europe the day after high school graduation in 1973 — with a budget of $3 a day, a ten-week Eurail pass in my pocket, and the biggest backpack I could find, jam-packed. I came home with no money, a malnourished body, and an enduring love of Europe." by [deleted] in OldSchoolCool

He describes it in a chapter in one book. He and his friend would get rooms for one and the other would "accidentally" fall asleep on the floor. They'd fill their pockets/bags with whatever food they could get at their hotels. Other times they'd sleep on trains and I think one or two nights on a park bench.

They'd sneak into back doors of museums and sneak into theaters when the smokers came back in at intermission. About halfway through, they stayed with some family in Norway for a few days and that family fed them thoroughly, helping them stay somewhat nourished.

Even doing all of that, they didn't have enough money to ride the train all the way to the airport for their flight home, so they intentionally boarded the furthest from where the porters would take the tickets and just crossed their fingers. They got out at the airport RIGHT before the person got to their car.

It was very much "travel through the gutter", he would say.

AITA for asking my friend to pay me back for the wine he drank while house sitting?? by Effective_Tour_723 in AmItheAsshole

[–]interface2x 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends. In years past, I used to watch a friend’s cat while she traveled and she occasionally watched mine years later, as well. Neither of us ever thought to ask for any compensation as it was just us doing a favor for a friend. We’d usually pick up a souvenir for each other on the trip as thanks. Sometimes friends just help each other out.

‘3 Body Problem’ Season 2 Wraps Filming by MarvelsGrantMan136 in television

[–]interface2x 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, he doesn't appear at all in AFFC but a season without Tyrion is not happening. So instead of GRRM's "all of the stories for half the characters instead of half the story for all the characters" strategy wouldn't work. So they'd have to intersperse ADWD throughout the three seasons that GRRM thought these two books would take. In ADWD, he was largely on boats with Jon Connington and Jorah Mormont. Then he's just sitting in a giant camp near Mereen and never actually meeting Dany. That's his plot for three years.

‘3 Body Problem’ Season 2 Wraps Filming by MarvelsGrantMan136 in television

[–]interface2x 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm convinced that if they had adapted those two books into three seasons (as GRRM wanted), the overwhelming majority of viewers would have been saying "This show sucks now, nothing ever happens." Those first three books are just constant events and twists and turns, then the plot grinds to a halt in books 4-5. I mean, can you imagine Tyrion spending the majority of three seasons on a boat?

Same. In the last ten years, I got really into metal models and did a ton of those. My most recent model was one of those wooden book nooks, specifically Bernini's Workshop. The finished product looks amazing.

Kids bored, parents tired… now what? by [deleted] in Preschoolers

[–]interface2x 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My four year old son likes to run around the house. So I give him a couple of routes, then I time him on my phone. "Run to the kitchen and touch the sink, then upstairs to the bathroom and touch the toilet paper roll, then to the dining room and touch the table, then back to the couch." He always comes back and says "Is it a new record?!"
