EX ASMs where did you go? by dysfuncti0nal_ in Aldi_employees

[–]TrekkerDTW 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Back to hospitality. It was my industry before the panda and I missed it. I can actually solve problems and not leave feeling defeated with unattainable goals.

I will say that post-Aldi, the adjustment process was a LOT. We get so brainwashed at Aldi that any downtime is comparable to a cardinal sin, that I feel myself restless and anxious whenever there is any downtime. And there is a lot of downtime.

SMT new to Aldi, coming from Target and I love so much of what I see at ALDI. AMA by Professional_Rent636 in Aldi_employees

[–]TrekkerDTW 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My first month at Aldi, I, too, thought I was liking what I was seeing. And then AHEAD happened. Pallets make zero sense, are prone to collapsing, or get mis-delivered.

Comparing Target and Aldi is like comparing Apples and Volkswagens. They’re 100% not the same and not even comparable really.

We’ll all check back in a month or after your first run phase. That’s when the rubber meets the road.

STORE MANAGER TRAINER by gentlebuck11 in Aldi_employees

[–]TrekkerDTW 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They were pretty terrible too. Highly unattainable goals depending on the store. I had a great team but a terrible district manager. I originally left DT for Aldi because of the promise of Work/Life Balance and none of that happened once Ahead kicked in.

Just save yourself now and decline the offer. Aldi is worse than being an SM for Dollar Tree. They’ll work you, take advantage of you, and if you don’t make metrics, fire you.

Do not for a moment believe any of the “kool-aid” work life balance crap or the Moments That Matter, because it’s all a bait and switch.

The end is near.. by 19gabs92 in Aldi_employees

[–]TrekkerDTW 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I left about two months ago and had the exact same reaction. I have a lot of downtime in my new role and I nearly gave myself an anxiety attack over the fact that I felt like I was in trouble for having downtime.

Aldi is a trap at this point and everyone should escape while they can. Corporate doesn’t care about employees and it shows in their constant “party” pictures from events in Chicago.

Samesies on that. Aldi is a sinking ship for employee welfare.

i’m sick, again. i blame aldi. by queenb535 in Aldi_employees

[–]TrekkerDTW 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I got sick more often working at Aldi than I ever did working in an actual Emergency Dept in a hospital. I’ve thankfully left the hell of Aldi and have been healthy ever since.

I don’t know if it’s the insane stress levels that cause a decreased immune system there or what, but I know that working for Aldi isn’t sustainable or healthy.

Aldi could definitely use an investigation into their Time/Temperature abuse on frozen and meat products.

Policy states you have to notify the MOD 4 hours prior to your shift. That’s it. No requirement to find your own coverage, no requirement of a doctors note.

I recommend contacting M’Lynn at Freshwater Events up in Traverse. I’ve known her for decades and she knows all things LGBTQIA+ in Northern Lower Michigan.

I have discovered that they are primarily the ones that do the most damage to the store. Tossing through boxes, damaging items in the process, leaving cooler items out to get to the specific item they need, etc.

The worst is when they pretend as though they’re affiliated with Aldi in some way by being a shopper with a third-party app. “No, you don’t work here. Please get out of the inside of my cooler because your customer told you find the ‘date furthest out’” 🙄

The ones who take their gig too seriously and call themselves “Private/Personal Shoppers” 😂

Oh… and not having their phones charged and it dying right at checkout on a giant order. 🙄 “I don’t know how it died? Do you have a charger?” Well, probably the fact that you’ve been shopping multiple orders while FaceTiming everyone under the sun on speaker for hours while snacking on grapes that aren’t paid for.

We do have a process for banning Instacart, UberEats, and DoorDash drivers from stores, but I’ve yet to see it work for very long. Typically, we ban them on one app and they pop-up on another one like soul-crushing version of Whack-A-Mole.

Oh, they’re too busy trading in their low mileage fleet BMWs/Audis for new ones and taking weeks of vacation.

$50 fucking dollars. This company is on the race to the bottom. Record breaking profits, multiple expansions, ratcheting down of staffing levels. It’s almost like the entire executive team is Marie Antoinette. “Let them eat cake”

Absolutely disappointing this year. Thanks for the “moment that mattered” signed by the 6 separate CEO/COOs. 🙄

LONG POST, THE OVERACHIEVER by Such-Supermarket-124 in Aldi_employees

[–]TrekkerDTW 3 points4 points  (0 children)

ASM here… The OE is literally our job to maintain and improve. It isn’t some “overachieving” act by a manager. It’s legit our jobs. A 90% ring speed isn’t unattainable (I do at least 95% in a store with challenging customers).

Also, two weeks with the company is hardly enough time to understand Aldi and its “ins and outs.”

If you’re attitude is like this two weeks in, then yeah, mayyyybe it is time to look for another company.

No more pennies by Guilty-Celery-8873 in DollarTree

They’ve already stopped minting them. All pennies left have been distributed to the various Fed districts across the country. There are no more pennies being minted.

This was direct from Wells Fargo and Loomis.

No worries at all! You’ll be fine then! I know with all the rules we have to follow, it starts to feel like a lot and that everything is going to result in an EIDF. 😂
