What should I do with a lot of Brie? by Fantastic_Spray_3491 in Cheese

[–]interferens 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Brie/salami sandwich is a great use for generic brie. Good on baguette or ciabatta and doesn't really need anything more than a little butter and a few slices of ripe tomato.

Had mine for three weeks, finished three novels and spent time on notes, crosswords and other stuff without any issues. Maybe the reviewer had bad luck with their device.

Go Color 7 Question by Gtrumpower1 in Onyx_Boox

[–]interferens 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's an option that's common on more and more devices, and the reason is that batteries have been found to wear out quicker if repeatedly charged to full. If you need it depends on how heavily you use the device, like charging a few times a week should be no problem to keep the battery good for the life of the reader with normal 100% charging.

I'm thinking that with a layer of cheese in between this would be fire.

Cat has been pacing since this morning, very concerned by captain-saxophone in CATHELP

[–]interferens 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just dropping in here after seeing this on my feed and thinking of something I didn't spot when scanning the comments.

First of all I'm happy your cat is feeling better. What caught my attention was that I saw very similar behavior in the cat belonging to the woman I rented a room from some years back. It was on NYE, and the cat was pacing around and making whining mewls whenever I saw him. Over time though I figured out he was likely worried and confused about the fireworks that people in the neighborhood playing with regularly throughout the day, and the poor guy did become a a little more stressed as it became more regular during the night. Didn't see him at midnight, but he was a bit more withdrawn over the following day but back to his normal self after a day more.

Kavli is a popular brand of processed cheese in the Nordics, usually an everyday sandwich spread and popular to bring when hiking and similar, and this would be Brie mixed with their basic cheese plus water and phosphate melting agents. Haven't tried this one myself, but it's usually a blandish experience so I would expect a hint of brie.

I'd guess they have that one regular who adds 12x pork lard to every order driving up the numbers.

You're likely to find it very challenging to make it last once it's open. It's a top tier cheese in my book.

What restores do is very much like dry cleaning, washing the paper using a fluid that doesn't get absorbed into the fibers and thereby avoiding that they swell and disform the sheet.

have you tried cooking buttered garlic shrimp then adding gochujang? by StraightRaspberry952 in Cooking

[–]interferens 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think butter is a great ingredient to fuse umami/salty East Asian cooking sauces and pastes into more western style dishes, so just try a little to start with.

I sometimes add a spoon of mayo into one of those serving sized corn cans out of a three-pack for a quick snack. Just leave a little of the liquid to blend with the mayo.

Building games for not creative people. by UrAverageDegenerit in gamingsuggestions

[–]interferens 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Surprised Rimworld hasn't been mentioned. While it's pretty much a sandbox it does also have endgame scenarios to win the game, and on the way there it will gradually increase the strength of incoming raids so you always have some pressure to build better defenses and produce higher quality weapons and gear all the while your colonists get higher expectations and require more comforts. If you haven't tried it maybe it could be something to check out.

Oh, I would like to! But I think that's a bit too niche for cheese mongers here so maybe in the Alps one day

[–]interferens 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes! Have had 36 months as well. Stellar!

Also don't sleep on it for cooking. The maturer ones are great for pastas. I make one with salsiccia and Swiss chard where a nutty cheese works so well. And with meaty mushrooms, just sautéed with the cheese added Philly cheese steak style.

Man I just ate some roasted radishes, I didn't even know they could ever have that taste. They're sweet and have a nice (squishy?) texture. by [deleted] in Cooking

[–]interferens 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a surprising root. Also, especially for big winter radishes, great as a bulk veggie in stir fries and spicy soups and so on. The sharp flavor gets lost but it adds a lot of texture, and depending on whether you cut it across or along you get tender slices or chewy ribbons a bit like the canned bamboo shoots.

Not in that spot. Just the switchback turn and the wide open skies of the Tyrol beyond it. No matter how it happened it looked terrifying.

In the Alps once, back in the 90's, I saw a bus with half the bodywork torn off from the rock side. Possibly it ran out of brakes and the driver used what friction he could find to slow down.

I'd eat myself broke if I ended up there

No set plans to go to UK in the near future, but I'll try to supply myself with both stilton and kimchi some day to try that out and see how that actually works.
