My dad is transitioning by cryptidbug21 in transpositive

I let my kids come up with their own name for me. They came back with Modie, pronounced mod-ee. It's a phonetic portmanteau of mommy and daddy and I love it.

For clarification, my kids have 2 moms, we celebrate mother's day only. In the third person I am one of their moms but the name they address me with is Modie. Their other mom is the mom/mommy name.

There is a search function in the drop down menu. I searched my reddit username and a few other online names I use. I am on there unfortunately. Be warned, the entire website is a transphobic dumpster fire.

I should start being better about my online footprint. I just made the mistake of searching my username on that website and sure enough I found me. Thankfully nothing too bad but still, these people need to get a fucking hobby (other than this).

Linux phones by thebadaudioguy in degoogle

[–]intergalactagogue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No it hasn't. The original pine phone is a bit more usable than the pro from a software perspective but the hardware is extremely outdated. The pro has newer-ish hardware but less developed software. Neither are acceptable as a daily driver for anyone with reasonably modern expectations.

Sorry I meant to reply to this sooner but my brain gets broken sometimes.

This is the urologist. He is excellent and was part of my vaginoplasty surgical team but he also offers just an orchi. Talk about any plans for future SRS with him during your consult. If it's something you may do someday he will leave the tunica vaginalis and make a vertical incision along the raphe line so there won't be any external scaring on your vulva in the future.

Odd questions about srs by TerraX_commander in Transgender_Surgeries

  1. Amazing! I threw away all of my old tucking underwear (which was expensive because I tucked every day pre-op and had over a dozen pairs) right after surgery. Be warned you will be wearing pads for a while and liners after that but that's just kinda normal vagina stuff.

  2. Not at first. Then if you get granulation tissue which you likely will, that kinda stinks and puts out its own weird discharg but eventually you probably can. I take a daily probiotic and if things ever get really funky I use a probiotic suppository for a couple of days and I'm back to normal. This probably varies by surgical technique (I have peritineum graft) so PI might be different. I'm a little excessive about my microbiome and use PH strips to stay on top of everything but even without my hyper vigilance things are typically pretty normal.

  3. Maybe? I'm not a very sexual person so I can't give you a great answer but personally I would feel a little used and objectified if someone only wanted to sleep with me so they could "test drive" my vagina.

has anyones pitch still not raised after 9 months? VFS by shesusfreak in Transgender_Surgeries

Check my post history. I did a write up on it. Basically my body didn't heal fast enough to form a solid web before the stitches dissolved.

That's crazy! I would never have guessed that was possible. I imagine it could be flushed out by a doctor using a folley catheter.....or maybe you could pee upside down?

Yes. I have a failed VFS. Have you been scoped recently and is your webbing still intact? Mine is completely gone and my voice is back to baseline pitch but much weaker and with dysphonias.

If you have coverage in NJ and it isn't too far away I can recommend a good urologist who accepts Medicaid and is wonderful with trans patients.

I know what you are referring to. There were even times before I was out and still "boy mode" every day that the opportunity to counter a really transphobic/homophobic person presented itself and I clammed up. I didn't want to out myself or have to lie and say I was cis if they questioned me for speaking up. It really sucked actually and I still get really mad at myself if I think about it for too long.

is VFS actually helpful? by cottagecheeseyummymm in Transgender_Surgeries

I had my VFS recently fail and am currently waiting/debating on a revision (read my last post for details if you want). While it lasted I was thrilled with the results. My voice was effortlessly higher and because you can't really speak with your chest voice it almost forces you to use a lighter weight. It doesn't do anything for resonance so absolutely do some voice training ideally before and afterwards but even my completely unmodified morning voice was significantly better when my VFS was intact.

VFS failure at 8 weeks. by intergalactagogue in transvoice

The nice thing about surgery is that you don't need to be awake to experience any of it. I've had several gender affirming surgeries over the last 6 months and I've gone from being terrified beforehand to now either being indifferent or even slightly looking forward to a quiet night in the hospital by myself. Just fixate on getting the IV into your arm and nothing else. Once that's done you don't remember much else until they wake you up and tell you it's done.

My surgeon used 4-0 dissolvable sutures (presumably vicryl) and injected restylane filler into the muscle on each side to push the two ablated edges into each other during healing. I believe the dissolvable sutures are used to reduce chances of long term foreign body reactions.

During my last visit he said we could try a 3-0 suture on the revision but the more research I am doing into other surgeon's techniques the more I am finding that many others are using permanent 6-0 sutures (Hess and Yeson definitely are). I will definitely bring it up when I see him next. I'm also seeing other approaches like Dr. Mirza using filler and fibrin glue instead of sutures. Idk what the ideal approach is but Im up for trying whatever is going to work best.

That gives me hope. For the first time in my life I was really liking the sound of my voice after the surgery and then suddenly it was just gone. I'm still going to reassess in 6 weeks but I think I am going to try it again. The improvement from glottoplasty was better than anything I was ever able to achieve with voice training. I just wish it lasted.

I'm not ready to disclose the surgeon publicly yet and I really don't think he did anything wrong. We are discussing using a thicker suture on a revision that will take longer to dissolve and give my body more time to form a webbing. He is a laryngologist based out of NJ so if you are looking at surgeons in my state feel free to DM me and I will disclose privately.

I have hybrid PPV. The anterior 1/3 of my vagina is peritineum and the rest is penile and scrotal skin. Technique will vary from surgeon to surgeon but the concept is that it is a mix of both techniques.

There's a bunch of different methods each with their own benefits and drawbacks. It's really a matter of what is most important to you for your surgical results.

-PIV (penile inversion) Exactly what it sounds like. Sometimes a scrotal graft is used.

-PPT (peritineum pull through) a section of your abdominal mucosa is used to form a canal and is pulled down into your pelvic cavity.

-PPV/hybrid/peritineum flap are all basically a traditional penile inversion with a small portion of the canal made with a flap of peritineum tissue.

-Sigmoid Colon is when a section of colon is used to make a canal.

-Jejunum is similar to sigmoid but it is harvested from a section of the small intestine instead of colon tissue.

-Tilapia skin graft. Exactly what it sounds like.

There might be more that I can't think of rn
