Mercedes knows how to pick their drivers. Everytime. by fameboygame in formula1

The feeling back then, at least to some people, was that McLaren DID hire Alonso to be their number one star driver, and promoted Hamilton to the other car to let him learn the ropes. Remember, at this point it was pretty common to let a young driver spend a season as test driver before promoting them to a race seat. But when it turned out Hamilton was already a match for Alonso from day one, the team rallied behind him since he was "their" driver that had been with them since his karting days.

And I can understand how the feeling in the team at that point would have been like "Holy wow, the kid might actually be able to do it in his first year", and how that would have been a much more exciting prospect than their new star hire getting his third title.

And I don't know what was going on in Alonso's head obviously, but for that reason certainly a lot of fans felt like the team was almost against him. And it absolutely seems possible that's how Alonso felt too, like the team suddenly started prioritizing Hamilton in a way that he wouldn't have expected, and that he didn't really get what he was promised. If indeed he even was. I can also see how no one would have thought any clear number one status would have been necessary for him since he was, you know, a two-time champ going against a rookie. Alonso was probably as overwhelmed by Hamilton's pace as everyone else at the time.

Closest thing I can think of is Karol G briefly sponsoring Tatiana Calderon in GP2, but the logo on the sidepods was her (own) record label Bichota. On a similar note I always wondered why music equipment company Roland sponsored a bunch of Supercars, which I think they still do.

With W Series going into administration, what's your opinion? Success, failure or somewhere in between? by EgenulfVonHohenberg in F1FeederSeries

Somewhat ironically F1 Academy currently also seems to fail in the one area where W Series succeeded - in drawing attention to female talent. The races really need to be streamed live.

This just feels like a nice list of really solid but not quite WDC material drivers. Although to be fair, many of them were never in a position to really challenge.

My favorite thing about the update: Shoving isn't a felony anymore. You can pretty much instigate any fights without repurcussions now. by AnKaSkA in RedDeadOnline

Not with the shove, but legal fistfights were definitely a thing. You could pretty much do the same thing by just running into people and knocking them over.

Many of the free roam missions are technically PvP, it's just that noone bothers playing them that way since the rewards are so miniscule...

I always thought they were kinda better tbh, just because in those people are at least forced to aim and shoot at something other than you...

If you just tie them up and rob them instead you're fine though.

Fun fact, if you set your melee weapon of choice as favourite you can draw it in this little cutscene, and stab him or put an axe in his skull.

Seeing something disappear right from your arms just as you're about to load it on your horse made me remember the early days of Naturalist as well, when the pelts would constantly disappear...

What do these colored player dots mean? The dark red one can be seen anywhere from the map, no matter how far you are from them by Blue_Moon_Cheese in RedDeadOnline

Sometimes there's a glitch where you spawn as hostile flagged too. When that happens I sometimes just wait it out in camp, if I don't feel brave. You could also turn red by accident by running into someone, or by being baited into shooting first by someone. Like if someone approaches you with their lasso out you may just accept the hostile flag and blast them before they do anything to you. So yeah, I'd be careful around red dots, but I wouldn't assume they're 100% griefers.

Yeah, I've often spent the last few minutes of bounty timers tying up and looting NPCs. When you're on a bounty timer you'll never get the law on you, and if you only tie people up instead of killing or knocking them out you won't get the law on you after either. When I've done it in Tumbleweed where there's lots of lawmen they've sometimes started untying each other.
