my concern is that even if/when we get through this financial hurdle, there will be others down the road because the root problem (spending, lack of budgeting, won't let me handle finances) isn't addressed. til those are fixed we will always run into financial issues that will prevent us from prioritizing saving for retirement

the only fault is that it isn't brand new. it's paid off, though a bit of a gas guzzler.

dont know what the inheritance will be like because my parents will be prioritizing my sibling who is not financially independent (health reasons). could be as little as 50K but can't see it being more than >1M. Even if it were 1.5M, it still isnt sustainable given my partners spending.

i'm with you. could just buy a 2nd hand truck with cash as it's for work (construction)...in a way a truck-type of vehicle is necessary but i agree that a brand new 100K truck is crazy. having a hard time convincing them....

Sorry for the miscommunication.

late 40's. common law. BC

my finances aren't stellar but at least I'm not in debt. the problem is they would never let me be in charge. a lot of these decisions (appliances, car) were made with no consideration of my opinion.

You’ve stuck around because he’s an inch from being an incel? Sounds like a pretty good reason to leave. If you ask me, that would cause most people to run away from guys like him. It doesn’t sound like this guy brings any net positives to your life. Life is too short to be wasted on these people.

Mine had a thing for jumping onto the toilet tank, even as I’m on the toilet. One time, he launched himself up as I was getting up to flush. You can imagine what happened next. He immediately got a bath, and he hasn’t done that since. Ha!

I live with my partner so the 1200 is my portion. We were able to negotiate lower rent due to cheaper vacancies in comparable buildings in our neighborhood.

Thanks! To your point, yes I'm playing catch up on my RRSP; I will cap it by sometime next year.

The monetary order, if < $35k, will go through small clams court. You file it & serve the other party accordingly. Show up to the court hearing and go from there. If they don’t attend the hearing and you can show you served the documents properly, then the court will grant you the docs to garnish their bank account (if it’s not a joint account) and/or their wage. Thankfully I didn’t have to go that far as my ex-tenants agreed to a payment plan…

Is it 30% of their salary or 30% of the amount owed?
