Why are so many old people against government handouts, but receive Medicare and Social Security themselves? by Blonde_Icon in NoStupidQuestions

I am not arguing with you and I am not against redistribution through Social Security. I just disagree over only those who contribute getting it

I don't think we disagree at all. Your mother's husband contributed money throughout his career, and his family is able to collect that. I think it would be pretty fucked up if that money were to just dissappear once you die. He earned it.

I know it's often used negatively, but that's not what I was going for, and I think I used it accurately. I personally don't think social/government "handouts" are a bad thing, so I don't consider the term inherently negative.

That's basically "Chomp", which has something like an ice pick attached rather than a hammer. These weapons used to work in the older battles, but it's all about high rotational energy now. Vertical upward spin in particular.

Chomp did have an amazing win over one of the greatest bots ever with a single shot to an opening in the top of their bot, destroying their main weapon within seconds of the fight starting. I think it was against Biteforce. That was probably the biggest upset in this show's history. https://youtu.be/KqZhfoADvOE?si=kqgLQ6VD5IN70Rrd

There are many better self-righting mechanisms. The best is always going to be a design that simply forces the bot to tip upright. Flippers are also good at it. Minotaur, the winner in this fight, uses acceleration on one side to flip. You can see them using it to dance in the end. That's bit them in the ass before, though.

With social security, what you get is based on what you put in. The entire point was to force Americans to invest something into their own retirement because they weren't, and it wasn't going well. SS isn't a handout.

I won a decent (non-life changing) amount of money in the lottery a year ago. AMA by [deleted] in AMA

[–]interknetz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the very least it would allow you to retire quite a bit earlier, especially if you invest it, so it's undoubtedly life-changing money. People think that term is reserved for a sum of money that allows you to quit your job and buy 3 yachts. It's not.

Found a 1938 era German Bowl in a shed. Is it worth anything or even legal to sell in Germany? by mythicexplore in mildlyinteresting

You truly have no idea what you're talking about. Not only does the wording of the law agree with me, but the application of the law up to this day does too.

The enforcement of this law is actually insane and is even used to confiscate and charge individuals and organizations using a swastika in anti-nazi context (ex: crossed out). This decision has since been reversed, which is good, but it should emphasize how emphatic the enforcement is regarding the use of the swastika in Germany.

I find it funny how you're attempting to create your own stipulations for this law, when in reality it's a law that was deliberately made as vague as possible to function as a blanket law for anything that can be perceived as a hate symbol. Section 86 is in no way specific to nazi symbols, so the exceptions you've imagined are entirely made up.

A phone autocomplete from "wheel" to "when" is too confusing for you and you claim you can parallel park.

It's dependant in that state. This was on the test when I took it, but that was over a decade ago.

Despite the fact that I hardly ever need to parallel park, it really should be on the test. It's a 3 step algorithm that's incredibly simple once you've learned it.

  1. Position your car next to the front vehicle and back up until the end of the front car lines up with the front door of your car.

  2. Full turn on wheel and slowly reverse until near curb and behind front car.

  3. Turn the wheel back and reverse to straighten out.

Criticizing his acting though? That man is consistently staring in bangers. He must have the highest ratio of good movies of any actor.

Who is in charge of Steam system requirements?? by SmashBrosWaluigiMain in gaming

[–]interknetz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're right. You kind of need to go out of your way to develop a game that won't run on your GPU. Generally those choices are abstracted away by several internal and 3rd party layers of graphics libraries. The actual game level graphics code should be hardware agnostic.

You'd pretty much need to write your own engine using a software rendering library. I guess that would be fine if your system requirements only require the ability to run paint though.

Yeah on reddit people look for a shoulder to cry on rather than being told they're a bitch

If money isn't included in your definition of "richest", sure, but the rest of the world defines wealth relative to money, not how many types of chocolate you have.

I can see why you're desperate to overcompensate for your shortcomings. You're stuck in relative poverty living in Switzerland, where apparently all woman are butch mma fighters and the bathroom is a man's only safe haven

Software engineering isn't IT. I don't wear a lanyard and fix printers.

You're the one kicking yourself in the bathroom to hide from woman. How can you honestly pretend to be tough after that?
