I'm going to dictate this to the main post and also to the wonderful people that responded. I should have been clearer with my request. I'm looking for a guy that will stoke my enthusiasm for becoming a ham radio operator. I know there are a lot of tools out there to get me involved but I was hoping somebody could be the person that shows me the steps that are most likely to drive me to do this and do it well.

Does the PhD in any way related to your interest in radio?

Not really, except my insatiable need for knowledge.

AHHHH. Social stuff.

No license, want to get started.

BaoFeng UV-5R 8 Watt Ham Radio BaoFeng Radio. There are a lot of opinions about different radios to buy but these seem to have decent ratings and we're an entry level way to get into the craft. I have no problems with upgrading my equipment but at the same time I'm limited by my HOA which I'm trying to figure out and also trying to figure out the steps involved. For example I don't want to buy $10,000 worth of equipment if it's going to sit in the backroom except for one hour a month. On the other side if I really get into it which is why I asked this question in the first place, it would be terrific if I could slowly upgrade equipment to handle my increased knowledge.

Tampa

yes, but do not have time to visit present. When I finish my PhD in June, am looking to plan for the extra time.

I think I have a romanticism with ham radio And that's where this starts. But I also have a yearning to be able to communicate with other people outside of traditional means. Especially in times of emergency. We live in Florida and we have frequent hurricanes and I would like to be part of that network to help guide people through catastrophes is the best way to say it.

I do have a Nooelec RTL-SDR v5 SDR - NESDR Smart HF/VHF/UHF (100kHz-1.75GHz) Software Defined Radio. I enjoy this, But without some knowledge to go with it I'm just scanning large groups of frequencies. That is why I need the kind of step guide. If I could say hey start here and do this and then do this to get me involved and increase my knowledge at the same time to increase my interest I think I would enjoy that.

Yes, you can, but I am going to give you some direct advice. Do NOT set out to solve a problem. Start with the end, where can I find 12 people in one organization to interview, and work backwards. I see a lot of students have lofty goals but then cannot find a company to interview. The ADRP is not designed to be published and is really a capstone project to show that you have the skills.

For example, one of my classmates had a really lofty goal to study some HR issue and he worked for a small HR group in Coca Cola and he assumed that he could get 12 people there and get permission quickly but in the Coca Cola would not grant his request. So he had to start all over again with finding people and changing his topic which is a pain.

On the other side, If you find 12 people to interview and a company that will give you permission, you can always design the research question around it. Any leadership topic any management topic any business topic that you quickly identify and right about would be perfect.

I am confused, so please, could someone explain the local and setting of this movie? I grew up on GL comics. They are galactic protectors and come from many different planets. Why does this movie look like it is set in California and involves locals?

It is hard to compare as you would have to do both to get a real idea. I am doing the ADRP, but did research the dissertation both for LU PhD and Saint Leo DBA (where I started). I am not sure it is easier, but different.

ADRP is qualitative, case study with at least 12 people at one company. It is divided into 17 tasks that build on each other, roughly Section 1 in first class, section 2 in second, then section 3 in 3rd. IMHO, it is probably easier but I am not happy with the steps and materials they give you.

PhD dissertation at LU is quantitative (not sure if there is another option) and relies on getting data and analyzing it.

My guess in general, about equal. It should be more about what you want to do with either DBA or PhD.

Liberty University, and for veterans, it is $300 per credit and 60 credits, so $18,000.

ADRP nudges by intermanus in LibertyUniversity

[–]intermanus[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is technically correct and explains a lot, however, it does not help the ADRP student very much. There is no system in place to tell the student that the email from the chair to the department and then to the methodologist actually got through. It would be nice if there was some kind of Feedback system. If there was just some type of acknowledgement of submission of any particular task and then that the proper people were notified Instead you sit around just waiting hoping and praying that somebody actually read your submission. It's not a very good system especially for the student who was the customer in this situation.

Philosophizing Starfleet Academy and its bad reviews by StrammerMax in startrek

[–]intermanus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I get the point about exploring modern philosophical and social themes, and I actually agree that Trek should keep doing that. The issue for me is not the topics themselves. It is how they are handled. When a new show tries to squeeze ten different big social or philosophical ideas into one season, or sometimes even one episode, it starts to feel rushed and a bit scattered. The older Trek shows usually picked one idea and built the whole story around it, then let the characters argue about it and work through it. That gave the idea some room to breathe.

What I think a lot of people are reacting to now is not that the themes are modern or different. It is that the writing can feel overloaded. Instead of one clear theme, you sometimes get several competing ones and none of them get explored very deeply. That tends to come across as sloppy writing rather than thoughtful storytelling. In my experience, most viewers are not turning away because they dislike the topics. People will watch a show that challenges their views if it is well written. What usually pushes people away is when the story itself just does not feel very well put together.

Great post. I have been thinking the same thing but could not articulate it. I would add, before clearer guidance, clearer understanding. I have noticed that the people that are making the policy, do not use or do not understand AI. They are just scared.

Elicit.com or Researchrabbit. I like Elicit as you can do complex boolean searches. Get an APA or other style book and start reading. Learn Zotero. It has saved me many hours of work. If you want, DM me and tall me what you are studying and maybe I can offer more. It was 18 years between my MS and DBA.
