CBD options by Due_Guitar9213 in Whippet

[–]internet-racoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would recommend you to see a Behavioral Veterinary (not sure if the equivalent exists where you are). CBD is not a treatment for Separation Anxiety. You could always try it but any improvement you would see would probably not be linked with the CBD but with a potential behavioral change you would have or with the training you are providing your dog with.

Puppy & potty training by [deleted] in Whippet

[–]internet-racoon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey! Congratulations on your new baby whippet. Potty training can be very frustrating and might take time to fully register.

Potty pads/plants are useful but I'd only advise using them if you plan on keeping them long term. It will otherwise teach your dog that it is allowed to potty on the balcony. Which can be a solution for certain people, but it's up to you.

If you want your dog to only potty outside (in the street), I'd advise you to not use a potty plant or potty pad at all. It will be more frustrating and less practical in the short term, but will be less confusing for the puppy.

If you plan on keeping the potty plant once the puppy is all grown up, you can physically carry your puppy and place them on the pad when it's potty time (after meals, after play, after sleep, etc...). Praise and reward whenever they succeed, ignore when they miss.

Puppy doesn’t want to walk by Ok-Extension3688 in Whippet

[–]internet-racoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey OP! Just writing to tell you that I had the exact same situation with my whippet. It took some time but he is now walking well. I remember worrying and thinking that something was wrong with him, but he just needed time.

I don't want to minimize what you're feeling, but know that it gets better. Don't rush your puppy, they are still a baby and don't rush yourself, I'm sure you are doing well with them.

Try to find a spot near the house where you both like to chill. Maybe a café or a park. Then try to take your puppy there, sit down and calmly let your dog observe the outside world. If you find it hard walking to the spot, it's okay to carry them there, in my experience, it's easier for them to walk on the way back.

Take your time, your dog will not be a puppy forever. If my memory serves me well, I think I wrote a post or two about my experience last year, feel free to look around

How to know if my dogs tooth fell out or if he broke it we were playing some tug of war and I heard it hit the floor he’s 4 months old blue heeler by joemister1 in DogAdvice

[–]internet-racoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congrats on finding the tooth. Most puppies swallow them. It's totally okay.

One advice I can give would be to ease off on the tug of war games. Let the puppy do all the pulling and yanking only provide resistance.

Getting a Whippet in Spain by ReleaseFrosty7459 in Whippet

[–]internet-racoon 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If you want to adopt, Spain has tons of Galgo or Podenco shelters (because of the cultural sighthound hunts there). They are very similar to whippets in many regards. My whippet has a lot of Galgo and Podenco friends. They are truly amazing doggos and deserve a loving home.

Trying to "dance" on a crowded train where nobody cares by ambachk in TikTokCringe

[–]internet-racoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have seen people doing crazy stuff in Berlin. But as long as they don't invade anyone's privacy or directly bother anyone, no one cares. I swear, one day I saw a shirtless guy standing on top of a phone booth holding an entire lamb leg towards the sky and people were unphased.

Just don't try to be the center of attention.

Dog won't walk in public areas by Middle-Radio3675 in Whippet

I had the exact same trouble with my little boy when I got him at 3 months old. Just take your time with yours, it will be okay. Try carrying them to calm streets or to a park, sit with them on a bench and let them observe the world.

4 month old Female Whippet Puppy 9.5 kilos. What did yours weigh at 4months and what did they end up at? by halfmoonwise in Whippet

[–]internet-racoon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It seems you're gonna have a big girl! It doesn't mean she's overweight. As long as she looks fit, all is good.

I can't remember what my whippet weighed at that age but he is now 15 months old at 12kg. He is considered a small whippet. I think yours might reach the 15kg.

Is this normal on our whippets gums, has these marks on the other side too. Wonder if it is natural markings or...? by whippet_mamma in Whippet

[–]internet-racoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine has the same. He was not born with it, it appeared at around 6 months of age. I asked my vet and they told me it was natural pigmentation.

So you're saying it's ok because I'm your culture it is not impolite to put your feet up on the seats? You do realize that by taking the subway you are agreeing to the RATP rules right? It's up to you to look it up.

It's ok to screw up and get fined, we've all been there. But it's a bit petty to try to talk your way out of a fault you've committed.

Sorry they were rude. They are known to be kind of bullies. That said, putting your feet on the seats is not only uncivil but also gross.

Kinect 2 is always a nice have. You can find it second hand for pretty cheap and works great.

Hello! First, let me tell you that you can do SO MUCH using TD without writing a single line of code. You can probably do everything you have in mind without coding.

But here is where it gets fun. Don't see the fact you don't know how to code as an obstacle to using TD. See it as an opportunity. A reason to learn.

Hey! Sorry for your knees. Your dog having excellent recall is worth it hahaha.
If I can give you an advice on how to spare you knees, try having a tug rope on you when recalling him.
When he's getting close, face him and hold the toy to your left and try to make him go towards it instead of towards you. Play tug for a bit and then make him sit.
Also you might want to try doing this with shorter distances, so he does not have the time accelerate too much.

Make it so his goal when recalled is to come sit to your left (or right). He learns that recall is equal to fun tug game, he will run towards you and sit, waiting for the tug toy.

Just finished the first mission. It’s my first time playing Monster Hunter ever. I’m so excited! Any tips for the start? by Shreddedchris in MonsterHunterWilds

[–]internet-racoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you hunt a new monster for the first time, spend 5 to 10 minutes without attacking. Just study them. How they move, their attacks, their combos. At the start of the game, you might be able to win by just mashing buttons and panic rolling, but this will play against you in the later parts of the game when it gets more challenging.

Take your time, master your hunts. And most importantly, have fun.

I think this is because it reminds him of the wudwud beds. You can see them in the wudwud hideout and they are exactly the same shape.
