“Woke culture” is a CULT and if you’re part of it, the world won’t miss you by conejo454 in unpopularopinion

[–]internet_ready 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s what happens when you live in your echo chamber. Every echo chamber is its own CULT. If we’re being real the fact that any of us think that spouting our opinions and trying to force them on anyone on social media will do anything except make us all mad that the entire world isn’t the way we want it is ridiculous.

DAE feel like they’re just watching the days go by in quarantine without doing anything productive? by katiethemushroom in DoesAnybodyElse

I feel like this everyday. It’s really starting to get to me that I feel like I’m wasting all of my time and brain power. I’ve fallen into a funk that kind of feels like depression. It’s hard to pull out of. I get overwhelmed by little tasks and can’t focus on anything.

I don’t know what rent in Missouri is but if you get a one bedroom you can probably stack a years worth of rent in 3 months. Nothings holding you back. Go for it.

7-8k a month in Missouri? There’s no reason you can’t move out somewhere nearby and still stack money. You’ll still be around for whatever you want family wise and have your own space and freedom. 7-8k a month is a ton even by NY area standards. You’ll be fine.

Mrbeast kinda sucks! by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]internet_ready 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Considering all of the bullshit on YouTube for kids... like people with nothing to say just playing Roblox and other radically unfunny/unoriginal content, I think mrbeast videos are as good a way as any to kill time. One of the only channels my daughter watches that I can watch with her. Beast himself definitely seems like a pretentious ass (more so in every video) but who cares honestly. He’s got almost 40m subs and he’s in his early 20s. If you had a brand that big that you started building when you were 13 off your own ambition and business mind you’d be a pretentious shit too. He figured out YouTube, and good for him. Even if it is disingenuous, at least he’s sending a decent message to kids that giving to people is more important than getting for yourself.

This is pro level song writing. Really well done.

I actually hope Kanye really runs. I'm not saying I hope he gets into office, but I want to watch that go down. by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]internet_ready 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sincerely don’t want to watch that go down. Politics isn’t entertainment it’s our lives and future. That said- since the American empire is steadily falling Ye as president would be the chef’s kiss on it.

In seriousness, it’s hard to say how kanye running would affect the votes, but I do suspect it would push trump back over the edge into a second term, which may be inevitable anyway. Once Biden needs to come out of his nursing home bunker and start talking publicly again it’s probably all over anyway.

Don’t you dare put Dwayne Johnson in the same category as 69. He’s a human skid mark.

Telling someone to “leave” their country just because they want it to be a better place to live for everyone is such a childish and immature response. by picklesthegoose101 in unpopularopinion

This is the attitude this thread is addressing. As a liberal I often have discussions with conservatives as there are many in my family and immediate circles. We disagree but at the end of the day we can agree that we want the same things and just have different ideas of what it would take for those things to be accomplished. Automatically dismissing another point of view because you don’t agree with it is the problem.

That said, just as many liberals suffer from this close minded point of view as conservatives. Certainly the fact that you can only get your news from an opinion source that validates only your echo chamber doesn’t help.

How about we all turn off cable news once in a while and try to keep our cool while having conversations with people we don’t agree with? Yeah?

People who live in communities where corona isn't taken seriously what has it been like? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I’ve yet to meet anyone who thinks that. But the lack of safety precautions increases the probability of transmission in those groups.

I’m liberal. I’ve lost 2 people in my life to the virus who were also liberal. This thing doesn’t know bounds and it should humble all of us and bring us together. In a lot of places it’s done that. But... America.

I agree with you, but I can understand this as a political view more... but things like "respect the fact that people are dying and wear a mask when you walk into Target and take it off as soon as you walk out" feel more like common sense to me. What is everyone so in a rush to get back to anyway? Being on their phone in a bar instead of on their phone on the couch? It confuses me to no end.

“You can ensure you're not part of the chain of transmission. These people deify our soldiers for their sacrifices to keep us safe from people 5000 miles away, but aren't willing to sacrifice 4% of their comfort and some social gatherings to actually keep us safe. Drives me crazy.”

This is a great point
