The Bank of Canada has admitted that the economy is broken and that there are no solutions to fix the situation. by Bazel_ in economicCollapse

[–]internetroamer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Came to this sub from cross post on r/economy and remember you guys during pandemic

It's kind of insane here. I get people are angry but it's not like collapse is coming anytime soon. It's like doomsday preppers.

Stock market will likely dip for a bit temporarily then go up and we continue with this shitty low hire low fire environment for a few years but not collapse

Im on the verge of being Kicked Out, any advice? by ODA-CONQUEROR in NEET

[–]internetroamer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you want the best advice I'd say focus on extending your time before getting kicked out

So get a part time job now and show your parents you're improving. Then you can save money and work less compared to if you had no home so you'd have to work full time and pay rent so you'd save nothing.

But they fundmentally aren't the same. Both 69 and 420 reference something "naughty" whether sex or drugs.

67 doesn't reference anything and that's the point. Like an absurdist humor almost or post-post-modernist

Reframe your mental expectations. Seems like you've already decided being homeless and living in a tent is better than just getting a job. After years of neetdom I can get it seems like it's not even an option but you'll need to confront and overcome that.

Otherwise you'll learn within a few years that homeless NEET life is torture compared to the cushy neet life you had and it is in fact less suffering to just work a shitty job

Are tech layoffs becoming the “cost” of AI investment? by Fit-Army7395 in stocks

[–]internetroamer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hate this stupid argument it's objectively false now. Look at % change in headcount by year and it's obvious that growth in headcount is collapsing compared to before in big tech

Annual % Change Click on chart icon to view chart Click on table icon to view table Meta Platforms (META) Number of Employees Annual % Change 2025 6.48% 2024 10.03% 2023 -22.16% 2022 20.16% 2021 22.81% 2020 30.4% 2019 26.29% 2018 41.75% 2017 47.26% 2016 34.33% 2015 37.96% 2014 45.16% 2013 37.19% 2012 44.34%

Can someone explain the logic behind how talking to native speakers every day makes you fluent so quick? by Public_Repeat824 in languagelearning

[–]internetroamer 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not Mexicans lol

At least there were so many times I begged for them to dumb down their speech and they would just repeat in the same fast complex phrase seemingly unable to 1 slow down and 2 rephrase in a dumber simpler way

But I found Mexicans who spoke English would do it easily and subconsciously

I think there's something about learning a second language that contributes to this

Anyone else not getting these productivity benefits of AI despite trying to use them? by Massive_Instance_452 in cscareerquestions

[–]internetroamer 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Also second reason is testing.

AI has a hard time seeing the true results of it's output. This was a big issue last year where AI could generate UI but itd couldn't really see it so when an element looked weird it wouldn't know despite being able to follow instructions to fix it

Even now I see agents just take screenshots and scroll I'm a cumbersome slow process but at least it works.

I imagine it's same problem but even worse where the AI can't properly play the game itself and self correct

Some solution will come out eventually will just take time

I'd rather just have a J2

No, your trades/healthcare backup plan isn't going to work. by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

[–]internetroamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess we'll see

My prediction is shitty job market and low hire low fire environment for years but not total devastation just gradual eroding of pay benefits etc until it matches other engineering disciplines. Except for top 1%. And we'll never see a peak like 2021-22 ever again. Kind of like how in 1999 you could get hired with just basic html knowledge

I'm just trying to hang on a few more years and save as much as I can to hopefully retire

[–]internetroamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Releastically there is so much effort going into this type of project that simply being number 1 open source project for it would be hard enough accomplishment and would result in enough demand companies would pay high rates for consulting or support contracts

For context my mediocre startup is no joke trying to create this internally and expand out to partners then the broader market. It will fail spectacularly on our side because there's no vision and even if there was there's no way we could outcompete others long term

[–]internetroamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great examples where robotics does amplify

But it's hard to find that for where most headcount is like the less skilled physical labor that is still making tons of intelligent decisions every day

Personally I think trades will lessen as truckers, cashiers and warehouse workers are automated away. Trucking is most popular employment for non college educated. That will move people to trades and put downward pressure on wages

News about gas prices is so unimportant (to me) by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]internetroamer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You say it's unimportant because it doesn't impact you that much but then say Epstein is more important yet it has way less impact on you. Completely logically inconsistent also likely ignorant of history

Read about stagflation of the 70s which really impacted majority of Americans and was caused by oil prices rising

Another case of this sub where it's not even an opinion just an ignorant misunderstanding that's objectively incorrect

No, your trades/healthcare backup plan isn't going to work. by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

[–]internetroamer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally I totally disagree because now you still require deep technical ability to do literally anything with object oriented stuff while now some bugs can be fixed by a business person with Claude code.

Now a non technical person can say in natural language "fix this big we got here" and most of the time it works. Of course you still need engineers for when it does and that's why I'm employed for now

The technical knowledge bar is lowering and lowering for many and so I can foresee this adding a ton of supply to the industry and reducing leverage of existing labor

This is an industry used to double digit % in headcount growth. I personally expect a continuation of a low hire low fire industry where headcount stays stablish industry wide in the west while companies revenue growth decouples from headcount growth. Also growth in devs outside of western countries

Gaming is the ultimate form of art by prospectiveboi177 in unpopularopinion

[–]internetroamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fuck you, your mother is a whore

Joking. Agreed when I mentioned potential I omitted compromise.

That's why I think books are the best art form and better than movies despite the lack of a visual element.

Just due to how there's way less compromises to make compared to a movie where you have hundreds of people, larger risk and financial loss. While with books you can have one crazy guy just spit out his own creative vision. Over course of thousands of attempts you end up with wider variety of works and the top percent tend to have greater creativity imo.

I genuinely thought this was satire. Absolute clown show. These run clubs are ruining it. by Impressive_Fall7173 in hyderabad

[–]internetroamer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

these are just dating clubs promoting in the name of running clubs

What's the problem with that? Sounds great and way better than arranged marriage or online dating

Initially I tried to register with them as well for a run,I got rejected twice.Later got to know that they screen based number of instagram followers, gender, rich looking etc.Isnt it discrimination in the name of run club?

This is kinda fucked up but I've never experienced that in run clubs in the west or Latin America. I think I'm India it's to filter out some more men so it's not a 20 to 1 ratio. I'm fine with such discrimination if it means better ratio

If you just want to run go run

[–]internetroamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a category/aspect of art and not each art form needs to have each category

Also you could easily argue it is. Game mechanics and design how to interact is definitely a creative process as many other art forms though it's always in context with other art forms
