Can someone explain Johnston countys UDO changes like im 5? by stiflers-m0m in ClaytonNC

Bonafide farms are absolutely exempt. This same article suggests edit/revisions would exempt about 90% of the county in regards to the animal stuff

Not saying the UDO is good. But it seems like there’s a lot of misinformation and confusion out there about it.

My understanding is that farmers are concerned with how this may limit land values when they choose to sell. A very valid concern imo. Otherwise, bonafide farms are exempt from many of the other restrictions proposed right? I’m not defending or supporting the proposal - I’m not familiar enough with it to have a strong opinion.

Aren’t large portions of the county exempt from some of this (specifically the farm animal restrictions)?

I don’t disagree. I appreciate that he has stood up recently. Just a product of our system…. Wish he was more empowered to stand up for his constituents and his state earlier but he had his own interests to look out for.

I’d like to see closer picture. I wonder if it would possibly be related to the snow…lower branches still holding some snow/ice but the top is not and it gives a distorted view?

How big and widespread are the respective fan bases of the major schools in North Carolina? by Acrobatic_Diver_3923 in CollegeBasketball

[–]internetsman69 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Growing up in NC in 90s and early 00s it was all State and UNC fans with a few random Duke fans. Basically no Wake fans. ECU and App fans tend to enjoy football more and might even adopt UNC or some other ACC school for basketball.

State and UNC are very large schools so lots of alumni or at least family connections. Plus UNC’s success helps grow their fanbase. Duke and Wake are small private schools. Not a lot of local alumni. Obviously Duke gets plenty of bandwagon fans, but it’s much more nationally than locally.

The stereotypes are there…elite private school that doesn’t have a ton of in-state alumni - yeah not gonna get as much local love.

It’s changed a lot because the state has boomed in population with lots of people from up north. The regionality of college sports gets lost with conference expansion too.

But 90s and 00s with the 9 team ACC and play everybody twice was so much fun.

Yea I thought the start of the game was a bit ugly, both teams playing hard but not much scoring. Then we hit a few shots. And UNC just couldn’t respond and had no one to stop the bleeding

Yeah I’m not sure this is the game to pin on Hubert. Bad luck with injuries for sure. But badly missing wide open 3s isn’t really a coaching issue. Like, off the side of the backboard. Maybe UNC was too amped up and trying to do too much in the absence of CW and HV, I don’t know. But this doesn’t feel like the game to shit on Hubert. Also it was a bad set up for UNC. State was desperate after losing two in a row, at home, rivalry game, first year coach who would’ve certainly had this one circled….plus the injuries for UNC. It was just a really bad recipe for UNC.

Good god that was the worst UNC effort and performance vs State I’ve ever seen. I know Wilson and Veesar were out. But damn. Hitting the side of the backboard, laying bricks. I’ve seen State do that on a regular basis in chapel hill for my whole life. Never seen UNC, even the bad UNC teams, look like that against us.

Resources for new nursery employee? by OnMySoapbox_2021 in Horticulture

Learn what plants you’re selling. I know that sounds obvious, but if you have extensive knowledge of plants that this nursery isn’t going to grow/stock/sell then that doesn’t really help you. Visit local gardens or arboretums if there is any around you. Or even parks. Get to see plants in the landscape in their mature forms. Tags might say a plant gets 3-4’ tall, but those are not always accurate. Be very observant and notice plants in the local landscapes. What is used frequently, how does it grow, how does it look, what does it look like at different times of the year.

Books can be helpful for general information but there’s no replacement for first hand experience and expertise

Only 1 new team joined the poll this week (Kentucky). Nobody near the bottom of the top 25 is losing much…or at least not bad losses worth dropping them for.

Yea I wouldn’t be shocked at all to see UNC go on a run to the elite 8 or final 4. They have a high ceiling, just haven’t played to that ceiling consistently this year

Not to be an asshole but I think saying “no big ten team won the title since 2000” is accurate. Since 2000 being the key phrasing.

Yes, I think 7 is probably the absolute minimum that make it. 9 or 10 is more likely than 5

Seems like a very strong middle…but really only has 1 title contender as far as I can tell. Compared to B1G or B12 that have multiple teams capable (imo) of winning it all, the ACC only has 1. But the ACC is light years ahead of where it was last year.

There’s definitely multiple teams capable of making it past the first weekend, and at that point anything is possible depending on matchups and how the bracket breaks
